South Park Season Premiere Review: "HUMANCENTiPAD"

As if South Park wasn't timely enough in seasons prior, you can now expect the show to be more topical ever thanks to its new weekly creation cycle.

First case in point? "HUMANCENTiPAD."

While The Human Centipede is showing its age to parody at nearly two years old, the Apple side of the satire is fresh. Apple may have been the target of cartoon satire already, but this data location stuff is fresh.  Heck, Apple came out and officially addressed the location data controversy yesterday!

HUMANCENTiPAD Picture

This week's effort focused on three storylines all tied the Apple iPad. While Kyle's human centipede imprisonment had some good laughs and his father's adventures got some good jabs at the genius bar, it was Cartman that stole the show.

I'm not sure which of Cartman's proclamations that his mother is trying to f**k him was my favorite, but I'm pretty sure nearly everyone of them had me laughing out loud. I did my best to capture my favorites in the South Park quotes section, but if I'm missing any, please submit them!

And it's not just because I'm an Apple zealot (though I did show them how much I cared and did sign up for AppleCare), but I just didn't think the main storyline had the humor of Cartman's surprise delivery each time.

There's just only so many times I can watch an Asian guy poop a burrito into Kyle's mouth. Three.

Overall, I thought South Park got some clever shots at Apple's ridiculous ever-changing user agreement and the shit they try to get away with. But it just didn't have the humor of some prior satires.

Even though the season 15 premiere may not have been the best South Park ever, it still is a testament to how amazing Matt Stone and Trey Parker are.

These two, after their broadway musical, The Book of Mormon, opened last month, still managed to put out a more than above average episode.

I personally can't wait to see what these two are able to deliver us each week during this Year of the Fan. What did everyone else think of the episode? And more importantly, if you were the middle part of a human centipede, Cuttlefish and Asparagus or Vanilla Paste?

Poor writing, repetitive, stupid and disgusting. Not funny at all.

It is obvious that Matt Stone and Trey Parker are focusing 100% of their energy towards their play, because this episode was horrific. Eric Cartman had a different voice than usual, they stole that whole bit from SNL with the lipstick and cigarette and the three plot lines were sporadic. The topic had such potential for quality storytelling but I saw none of it on this one. I hope things improve.

Btw South Park is my favorite show and I have been a loyal fan since the beginning. Seen every episode.

Funniest part of the episode i Steve Jobs presenting the Humancentipad was him repeatedly throwing in "that they agreed to" after every sentence. Overall, it was a very solid season premiere.
