The Simpsons Review: Doubly Dull Feature

at .  Updated at .

After a long hiatus, The Simpsons returned this week with two all new episodes.

Both installments featured some hilarious The Simpsons quotes, but neither really inspired much laughter.

The Simpsons Season 25 Episode 12 featured the more of Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob, while The Simpsons Season 25 Episode 13 had Daniel Radcliffe as Bart's new older friend Digby (Diggs).

It's just too bad that both guest stars weren't part of stronger installments.

Sideshow Bob's return toThe Simpsons was rather mundane. The character is known for both his outlandish villainy and his pretentious intelligence. The latter definitely made me believe that he and Lisa would become friends sooner rather than later.

Their bonding over their high IQs was heartwarming because it's always nice for Lisa to find someone to share her intellectual enthusiasm with.

However, when Sideshow Bob devolved into an out of control genetic monster, it was silly even for him. The character deserves a better storyline than that. I mean, Bob once had a face transplant as part of his evil plans.

Much more amusing was the story involving Marge trying to talk to the local teens about celibacy. Her uncomfortable speaking and inadvertently titillating finger puppets made for some great comic moments.

In the second episode of the evening, Bart is befriended by an odd transfer student who is really in to falconry. Bart follows along with his enthusiasm, but it becomes clear that Diggs has a problem dealing with reality when he tries to fly by jumping out of a tree.

The friendship between Diggs and Bart is interesting, and Bart would be attracted to the awesomeness that is training graceful birds of prey to fly, return, and retrieve on command. However, things between the two never felt very authentic. Diggs is a cool kid, but a little too isolated for Bart's character.

And there wasn't very much hilarity in the episode as well.

But who do you think was the better celebrity guest star tonight?
