Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 8 Review: Unsung Heroes

Serial killer Thomas Wilder returned in Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 8, but was this the last time we’ll be seeing him?
No one can say Thomas isn’t presumptuous. Not only did he go back and kill the victim who got away, but he left her body outside of Danny’s church to taunt him. Then he pretended to be Danny Reagan and waited for the detective to catch up with him.
Thomas’ mother was almost as disturbing as her son when she explained how Thomas liked to play with dead animals as a boy. When she told Danny, “You make sure you get Thomas some help because he really likes to kill things,” all I could think was that the only help Thomas needed was to be locked up or put down.
When Danny searched that apartment with Baez outside, I kept wishing he’d call for backup, especially since the last time he confronted Thomas he got smacked in the head with a wrench because he didn’t call for backup!
Later, as Danny and Baez approached the boat, and she mentioned it was still tied to the dock as the motor revved, I knew it was going to explode.
Was that Thomas inside? I doubt it. I’m guessing we’ll see Thomas Wilder again sometime soon.
Back home, Danny’s marriage was struggling whether he chose to admit it or not. As much as Danny hated seeing the therapist, I was proud of him for going and voicing at least some of his feelings. He truly wants to fix things for Linda, he just doesn’t know how.
What he might be missing is that this may encompass more than just Linda’s shooting. That may have triggered her PTSD, but it’s being fueled by the stress of a job that puts him in constant danger. This time around even his family ended up being a target.
Elsewhere, Jamie went head to head with a Sergeant who literally had a death wish. That story didn’t play out anything like I expected. Gormley did the only responsible thing when he took the man off the streets.
Jamie and Eddie’s superhero debate was a hoot. Jamie likes Spiderman because he’s a regular guy from Queens. Eddie’s a Wonder Woman fan who appreciates her rocking those red boots.
I was happy that Eddie called out Jamie on telling her she can find another partner every time they have an argument. That comeback has gotten old.
Finally we get to Frank speaking at Columbia University…
Garrett: Most north eastern liberal arts institutions are not known for respect or appreciation for agencies of law enforcement.
Frank: Preaching to the choir is for showboats and sissies.
I was proud of Frank for knowingly walking into the lion’s den simply because he had made the commitment and said that he would. What happened when he arrived there was sad because it was so close to reality.
College should be a place where people listen to and debate opposing viewpoints, not scream loud enough so no one else can be heard. It’s a sad commentary on our society that what happened in this scene has become more the norm than the exception.
As Nicky told Frank in this Blue Bloods quote…
Some of the groups are incredibly tolerant, inclusive of a whole wide range of things but...it's like an approved list and if you're not on it then you've got to watch out.

That certainly sounds like the opposite of tolerant and inclusive to me.
The one thing I wished for was that Frank hadn’t left. That he’d taken off his jacket and waited until the screamers grew hoarse and the room grew quiet enough to speak or answer questions because if even one person would have listened, that would have been a victory.
