Nashville Season 3 Episode 8 Review: You're Lookin' at Country

All's fair in love and country music awards!
Although after Nashville Season 3 Episode 8, I'm not sure how much love is left between Rayna and Luke.
Sure Luke apologized for his poor behavior at the CMA Awards, but can Rayna simply forgive and forget?
I am now officially taking the stance that Luke is a jerk. Plain and simple. He acted passive-aggressively the entire night. I get the need for a prenup, and found it odd that Rayna was so taken aback by it. Honey, you're both country superstars. You need to make sure your empire is protected.
However, there was absolutely no excuse for how rude and childish Luke was.
The only reason your album went gold is 'cause I proposed to you on the day you released it. You said you'd never take what was mine. Well you just did.
Luke
This whole display clearly demonstrates why Deacon is the better man for Rayna. I could never imagine Deacon being that bitter or speaking to her like that. Hell, even Deacon and Scarlett noticed something was off through their television screen.
Rayna handled the evening like a champ. She won all the awards she was nominated for, and she looked stunning, but there was no way she could enjoy her success with Luke continuing to drink and lash out.
If I were Rayna, I could not forgive Luke so easily. I'm worried that she's going to go through with this wedding. Of course we all know Deacon is going to make a last minute plea, but there is a strong possibility Rayna will go ahead and marry Luke anyway.
On the opposite side of the relationship-drama spectrum, we have Avery and Juliette. These two need to get back together and call it a day! The last scene between the two of them as he unzipped her dress was full of all the right sexual tension.
It was also wonderful to see Avery defend himself and Juliette to his dad. They don't have a lot figured out right now, but they know they'll love their baby girl (awe!) unconditionally.
I'm gonna love my child, unconditionally. No matter how many choices he or she makes I don't understand.
Avery
I love supportive Avery much more than angry Avery. Let's have him stay this way please. Juliette needed support after she reflected on her childhood. Luckily, Avery was there to remind her that they are not their parents.
Here's the thing, we're not gonna be just like them. I'm not my father, and you're not your mother. Okay? We're us, and we got this.
Avery
I can't wait to watch them become parents (assuming nothing bad happens!). They continue to be my favorite couple, and I'm glad they are working together and heading toward a reconciliation.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Gunner and Zoey. After losing track of Micah at the show, Gunner panicked and blamed Zoey. I understood Gunner's freak out. He's new to being a parent, but so is Zoey, and she isn't ready to be a parent like Gunner thinks he is.
I thought Zoey handled the situation with a lot of maturity by ending things with Gunner. She didn't want to put him in the position to have to choose between her and Micah, so she's taking herself out of the equation.
Someone who doesn't understand the words mature or responsible is Teddy. Dude, how dumb can you be? Sure, you had a magical night, but get over it. She's a prostitute. You're the mayor. End of story.
He's going to get caught, and I won't feel the slightest bit sorry for him when he does. Idiot!
Someone I do feel bad for is Layla. Her portrayal on the TV show is not reflective of who she is in real life. Her comment to the reporter about the definition of irony was great. I was also pleased that she interjected some truth during the awards after that stupid line on the teleprompter.
Just so you know, I deferred Harvard.
Layla
Some weeks I find Layla annoying, and others I don't. I absolutely felt for her this week. We can all relate to feeling misrepresented or misunderstood. I would hate it if the world had an opinion about me that was wrong.
Layla's just fed up with everything her marriage to Will had brought upon her. At least they had a nice moment where he comforted her.
Sadie Stone looked to be in need of some comfort too. I'm curious about her ex-boyfriend and their whole story. I'm continuing to like her character, so the more back story the better.
I'm also picking Sadie for my favorite performance this week. Laura Benanti has a beautiful voice, and I really liked the words to the song.
