Law & Order: SVU Season 19 Episode 21 involves crimes against elderly women in nursing homes. A woman named Maddie Thomas claims she was raped, but she has advanced dementia and often confuses the past and the present. When a physical exam shows that Maddie was not raped recently, it seems she imagined something -- but Rollins suspects something happened years ago.

An investigation leads to a possible suspect -- a man who claims to have had a one night stand with Maddie 50 years ago, but she doesn't recognize him or have any fear of him. Just as the detectives are about to give up, they get a call about another rape at a nursing home.

The new victim, Patrice, is more lucid and able to give them a name, and eventually they track the rapist down. But when Patrice dies suddenly, their entire case depends on Maddie's testimony. Can Stone make a case for rape when his primary witness has advanced dementia?

Meanwhile, Fin gets promoted to Sergeant and transferred out of SVU, but neither he nor his former co-workers are happy about it.
