In an attempt to prove to Nick that people are inherently good, and to get some things fixed around their apartment, Jess tries to befriend their scary landlord, Remy. She accidentally lets it slip that there are four tenets in her loft, which is apparently against their lease. Angry, Remy storms upstairs, and despite the gang's best attempt at a ruse, he's on to them. Luckily, Jess wins over the landlord and he lets them all stay. He also agrees to fix what's broken in the apartment. While he's working on the loft, Remy opens up to Jess. Jess just sees this as Remy being nice, but Nick thinks their landlord wants to sleep with Jess. As it turns out, Remy wants to have a threesome with Nick and Jess. Both unwilling to admit that they were wrong about human nature, Nick and Jess almost go through with the threesome. Just before kissing Nick, Jess caves and admits that sometimes people aren't all good.
Meanwhile, Schmidt struggles to decipher mixed messages from his sexy boss. On advice from CeCe, Schmidt makes his move. Luckily, his boss is into it. But the night after their first kiss (which leads to the parking garage security guards arresting Schmidt for assault), Schmidt misinterprets a request from his boss and ends up dancing almost nude in front of a whole conference room of Japanese business partners.
