Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Yasss, Queen

Holy mother of plot twists!

Yes, I said plot TWISTS because there were plenty on Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 9.

Unfortunately, they're never going to get resolved because NBC pulled the plug on what should have remained a summer show.

What are the chances it gets picked up somewhere else? If it doesn't, the least NBC could do is give us a two-hour movie or one more episode to tidy things up.

Why leave fans hanging?

But then again, would I even tune in for another cheesy Midnight, Texas adventure?

Would you?

I wasn't fully expecting Manfred to be dead dead since Francois Arnoud is/was the star of the show, but Kai using magic to transform into our hero was a huge surprise I didn't see coming.

I still don't understand how Kai could be so stupid regarding Patience, but I guess when you're desperately in love you fail to see the obvious.

Kai had a fitting end not only sacrificing himself for Midnight, but also getting a chance to say goodbye to Manfred before heading off to the next world.

If things had turned out differently, Kai would have made a great addition to the Midnight team.

He's a much better fit than Walker.

His romance with Joe would have had a hard time flourishing considering Joe took off to find himself and God, but I suppose at some point they would have circled back to each other.

It's odd that Joe went from being in love with a demon to being in love with a demon hunter, but theirs is not a story I cared too much about at any level.

This Doesn't Look Good - Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 9

Olivia turning into a vampire was a whopper, and the idea of her and Lem truly living happily ever after forever and ever is something that sets my soul afire.

I love those two to no end. Maybe we can get a Lem and Olivia spinoff?

Now that she's back to being her badass self, can you imagine how badass she'll be as a vamp?

Like Kai, she made a sacrifice to protect her friends and her town, but I think deep down she was always considering turning into a vampire just because of how much she loved Lem.

The only way she was going to be able to be with him forever was to become like him since she wasn't too keen on him turning back into human form.

I liked Lem as a human, but he was pretty much worthless to the team without his powers.

The biggest non-surprise was Fiji being pregnant.

The minute Bobo made a deal with the Trickster, I knew she was pregnant.

Still, how the story unfolded for Fiji to turn back to her old self was decent enough.

I still like her best as evil Fiji and loved how she laughed in Bobo's face when he thought she finally saw reason, but I wasn't a big fan of her and Patience as a team.

Patience was completely over-the-top.

I'm not sure if we were supposed to take her seriously or if she was meant to amuse us.

Onlookers Beware - Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 9

She made me laugh not only with her ridiculously evil laugh after chopping off Manfred's head but also with her dreams of world domination.

And was I the only one who noticed how her accent changed from something southern to something almost British?

The evil knight from the dark forest will be walking around Midnight endlessly since he doesn't have a story to follow anymore.

If he's after Delilah, he's out of luck.

I'm betting he wants to find out more about those flashes from Manfred's phone.

If he was able to get out of the dark forest, I'm sure there were other evil beings able to escape as well which I would imagine would become the focus of the next season if there would have been one.

And of course, trying to out trick the Trickster to save Fiji and Bobo's baby would have been the secondary storyline.

Although I'm not a big fan of Fiji and Bobo as a couple, it would have been interesting to see how the baby storyline would have developed.

Over to you!

What did you think of the series finale? Are you disappointed Midnight, Texas got canceled?

How would you like to see the twists resolved?

Midnight, Texas Season 2 Episode 9 Quotes

Fiji: I don't understand why you just don't kill the Midnighters. There only going to be a thorn in your side. Trust me.
Patience: Because they'll be helpful for phase two.

If God really cared about his precious angels, would he let this happen to you?
