We got another reminder of why it's important to put down your cell phone even for a minute and pay attention
There was a lot going on during Dietland Season 1 Episode 4, but what really struck me was how Kitty responded to Austen Media being next on Jennifer's list. Kitty had to have known it was coming.
There was no way the group would let Austen Media off the hook. Austen Media has done some terrible things, and they've tried really hard to cover it all up, but Kitty was right in the thick of it all.
It was enjoyable watching Kitty take charge of the boardroom and calling those men babies, but I still had a lot of anger when it came to Kitty. She only viewed Jennifer as this man-hating group of women, but they're trying to make a difference in the world.

While I do agree on murder being murder, the women involved in these crimes had the system fail them time and time again. These men also had people in high places when helped them escape the charges or, as the detective mentioned, they got out because of a technicality.
I know we've all met Marlowe already, but her grand introduction was hilariously obnoxious. The funny thing about Marlowe was I honestly sat here and was trying to remember where I had seen her before – Sister Act 2.
I am still incredibly frustrated Plum still hadn't looked into Calliope House. I know Plum is wanting to change, but my goodness she just needs to open her eyes just a little bit and look at the big picture.

I was on her mom's side when she was starting to question why a woman would hand over $20,000. Plum was so convinced it's because Verena is just some lonely rich woman who wants to get into Plum's psyche, but there is always way more to the story.
One of the first things I would be doing if I were Plum would be asking the other people at Calliope House why they entered the program. What was it in their lives which made them decide to see Verena? She could easily make it seem like she's writing an article on them.
It was interesting to hear Plum being convinced the women giving her the bikini wax were talking about her, but it was quickly revealed they were discussing their personal lives. How many times have we, as human beings, been convinced people around us were talking about us?
It's another look at how little Plum thinks of herself. While Plum may be overweight, it's not what defines her as a person; though she only sees herself as being fat. It wasn't difficult to relate to what Plum was going through with her identity.
We're constantly bombarded with articles telling us what makes the perfect body or what products we need to achieve certain looks. How can we truly accept ourselves when we are reminded every single day of how we aren't good enough?
Who else wanted to punch Kitty when she was talking about the overweight girls who read her magazine? It was a thinly veiled insult, but she tried turning it around by saying she was just trying to be nice. This woman can be so absurd sometimes.

The icing on the cake was Kitty's shock at hearing her girls being in favor of Jennifer. While Plum is holed up in her own little world, Kitty is in her delusional world where she believes she knows what is best for every single woman.
It has been refreshing to see how supportive Plum's mother is. They could have easily written her as someone who points out all of Plum's flaws, but instead, she continues to try to convince Plum she is a beautiful woman.
Plum's mother was trying too hard to get Plum to see the person she sees every day. Just because Plum isn't thin doesn't make her any less desirable as a woman. I also would have freaked out if I saw bruises on my child's face.
I couldn't even get angry when Plum's mom went to Calliope House. I didn't see her going to the house as prying into Plum's life or even trying to control it; though I knew Verena would be able to get her on their side quickly. Verena knows exactly what to say.
We all knew Marlow's little outings were to try to convince Plum she was OK just as she was, right? It was interesting to see Plum not get phased by anything going on until the moment she went into the plastic surgeon's office and saw herself as thin.
Marlowe tried to convince Plum she was Alicia whether she was thin or not. It's all about perception and what we choose to see. Plum decides to see herself as an overweight woman instead of focusing on the wonderful person she is.
I will be the first to admit I am not against Plum getting weight loss surgery, but she has to be in the right frame of mind. She needs to stop thinking by being thin all of her problems are going to go away magically. This is what everyone around her is trying to do.
In the end, it didn't come as a surprise when Kitty decided to capitalize on the Jennifer group by printing the manifesto in every single magazine. It was a genius move because Kitty knows her audience will eat it up.
