Donna Paulsen always has a trick up her sleeve. 

She had a plan to become COO on Suits Season 7 Episode 2, and it worked out, but was it too far?

Below, TV Fanatics Christine Hinton, Jasmine Blu and Stacy Glanzman discuss the new role, Jessica's appearance and more. 

Do you prefer Donna as a COO?

Christine: At least it makes a little more sense than having her as senior partner. However, I didn’t like that Harvey agreed to make her partner and then reneged on it when the pressure was on.

If Donna can’t even depend on Harvey to keep his word, then who can?

Jasmine: It's no secret that I wasn't a huge fan of Donna as Senior Partner. I can deal with Donna as COO. As Christine said, at least it makes more sense.

I didn't like that Donna asked him for Senior Partner, and didn't anticipate getting it, but went along with it anyway. Old Donna would've been the one to tell Harvey what that type of promotion looked like from the outside, and he would have listened.

I'm happy she has a more fitting promotion, but her quest for all this power has left me befuddled.

Stacy: Yeah, it makes more sense since she's not a lawyer. She still has status with the firm and a vote, so she's not really losing anything.

It is a little surprising that she didn't suggest this sooner though. She saw that Harvey was hesitant about making her partner. 

What did you think of Jessica's appearance in the episode?

Christine: I love Jessica, and I’m happy to have her in any episode, but this appearance felt unnecessary.

Then again, I suppose Harvey needed a push in the right direction and Jessica has always been the person to give it to him.

Jasmine: I loved every second of it. The Jessica and Harvey relationship has always been my favorite though, so I tend to be biased.

It was fitting that he needed one last push from his mentor before he got on track. It was the passing of the torch that they both needed. 

Stacy: I loved it. I miss Jessica being a series regular so I will take whatever I can get. Harvey is just figuring this stuff out; it makes sense that he'd need a little help. 

Are you over Mike's lie being brought up in the courtroom?

Christine: Yes, but I suppose it was inevitable. I’m glad that Mike didn’t go with his first instinct to back down because then he would have been doing that with every case.

However, I do question him doing the article on his past. I’m not sure if the publicity will make things better or worse?

Jasmine: After seasons of Mike nearly being found out at every turn, I fully expected this. It's realistic. I agree I'm happy that he didn't go with his first instinct because he would have been backing down all the time. I actually like the article idea though.

He's controlling his own narrative; it made me smile when he took the guy to the bullpen. It showed that despite his actions, he did start off slumming it, so to speak, and worked himself up the ladder. 

Stacy: I am over it, but I can understand why it was brought up. Hopefully, with the article getting his side of the story out there, his future clients will be able to trust him, and this won't be used against him anymore. 

Was Katrina right to turn to Harvey?

Christine: I understood Katrina’s concerns, but she came across as kind of a snake. In one scene she’s congratulating Donna on her new position and telling her how much she deserves it, and in the next, she’s running to Harvey and telling him how giving Donna the position dilutes the entire firm. Talk about two-faced!

Jasmine: Katrina for the win! She pretty much summed up my issues with the ordeal. This was one time I didn't find Katrina conniving. I thought she was genuinely being diplomatic with Donna but had to remind Harvey of the optics.

I forgot she was also promised partner not too long ago. She was right. If the position is handed out like candy, it loses value. 

Stacy: Katrina had valid points. I think she was right to go to Harvey and voice her concerns. It's not like she demanded anything from him, just gave him something to think about. 

Should Louis reach out to Tara again?

Christine: I don’t know. I think Louis could use more closure than a voicemail message, but I also don’t think there’s a future for them.

Since the baby isn’t his, and Louis admits that what hurts the most is worrying that he’ll never be a father, perhaps it’s just time to move on.

Jasmine: Everyone keeps saying he needs the closure, but I'm with Christine, I'd rather he just move on. I'm over this too. Although, his therapy sessions made me laugh, especially when the time was up every time he had a revelation.

Stacy: It sucks that it all ended on a voice mail and he didn't have a chance to speak, but at this point, it's time to accept that that's how it ended and try to move on.

I don't think seeing her or talking to her again is going to help him, especially because he seems to be mourning the loss of being a father more than the actual relationship.
