Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis are saddling up for a new drama on CBS.

The long-time movie star and the man behind The Shield has signed on for an untitled pilot that is based on the true story of Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy who become a sheriff in Las Vegas in the 1960s.

Quaid will portray Lamb, while Chiklis takes on the role of Johnny Savino, a Chicago mob fixer whose whose plans for Las Vegas don't sit well with Lamb's mandate to clean up Sin City.

Both stars were serve as executive producers on the promising project.
