Vinyl Teaser: First Look at HBO's Upcoming Music Drama

at .

From Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter, this new 10-episode drama series is set in 1970s New York. A ride through the sex- and drug-addled music business at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop, the show is seen through the eyes of a record label president, Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale, who is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path.

That's the official description of Vinyl from HBO, and if watching the trailer and listening to the New York Dolls "Personality Crisis" pumping throughout doesn't get your heart pounding, then maybe this won't the the show for you.

As someone who discovered the New York Dolls on vinyl, dropped the needle and cranked up the volume, I'm all in for this one. It looks far better on screen than it did on paper. Don't you love when that happens?

What do you think, are you looking forward to this one? Will you be digging out your old punk and disco records to get into the groove?

Additional series regulars include Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, P.J. Byrne, J.C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Juno Temple, Jack Quaid, James Jagger and Paul Ben-Victor.

Vinyl will premiere on HBO sometime in 2016.

HBO Quotes

Every successful business is full of people who spent money nurturing unremarkable talent.

Eric: Why are you here then?
Harper: Well, it's not a very political answer, but I think mediocrity is too well hidden by parents who hire private tutors. I am here on my own.
