Here are 13 reasons The Rookie deserves a second season at ABC...and whether you missed an episode or just want to enjoy it all over again, you can watch The Rookie online here at TV Fanatic.

1. A Talented and Diverse Cast

A Talented and Diverse Cast
The Rookie has one of the most talented and diverse casts on TV. These actors bring the goods every, single week and there's not one of them we feel we could do without. There aren't many shows we can say that about.

2. Great Guest Stars

Great Guest Stars
There have been so many phenomenal guest stars during The Rookie season 1 that we couldn't possibly name them all!

Will-I-Am and Mario Lopez have made cameos, while Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time) as a rookie attorney, Sean Maher (Firefly) as a violent, escaped convict, and Shawn Christian (Days of Our Lives) as a veteran cop gone bad were just a few of our favorites.

We're clamoring to find out who season 2 will bring to our screens.

3. It's Not Afraid To Put Main Characters At Risk

And break our hearts in the process. Losing Captain Zoe Anderson was heartbreaking but no one can say she didn't go at as the complete badass we'd grown to love. Having the nerve to kill off our beloved Captain in season 1 says that no character is ever safe, just like in real life.

4. Heart Pounding Action

Heart Pounding Action
For those who crave heart-pounding action in their cop shows, The Rookie delivers it in spades. The gun battles and chase scenes in season 1 were epic and we can't wait to see what they come up with for season 2.

5. The Twist

The Twist
Unlike other police shows featuring rookies, this one has a twist. John Nolan may be new to the job but he's not some 20-something in it for the adrenaline rush. His life experience gives him perspective the others don't have, but also allows him to make completely different mistakes from his peers which makes the storylines more interesting.

6. Heroes You Can Root For

Heroes You Can Root For
Some TV shows have main characters that are so complex that they border on unlikable. The core characters on The Rookie are the people you hope and pray will respond to your call if you need to call 9-1-1, specifically John Nolan who is honest, brave, and thoughtful.

The Rookie Quotes

I love Rookie Day. It’s Christmas and the Purge in one.

Officer Bradford

Stacy: Happy Divorce Day!
John: That’s not a thing.
Stacy: It should be. When mine went through I took the boys to Disneyland.
John: I’m not really feeling the Matterhorn.
Stacy: Try and look at this as an opportunity.
John: Right now I’m just trying to remember to wear pants.
