The Young and the Restless SHOCKER!! Greg Rickaart OUT as Kevin!

at .  Updated at .

Greg Rickaart joined The Young and the Restless 14 years ago as one of the bad boys in town, Kevin Fisher.

Skip ahead a decade and Kevin not only made amends, but he's a part of one of Genoa City's most respected families and recently discovered he's a father.

Still, the character who has been on the front lines for a very long time is on his way out.

Sources close to the show have suggested the series has decided not to renew Rickaart's contract at this time.

Considering his story has been wrapped up in and around Chloe for so long, that's not a surprise.

Kevin and Chloe have been all around the map in their relationship. They had it all when Billy left his daughter with Chloe, Delia, in the car for a moment and she was killed by a driver who didn't see her and drove away seeing nothing in the darkness.

Chloe lost her mind. The grief was overpowering and the desire for someone to pay for her loss all encompassing. She lost Kevin and wound up in a mental institution.

After years of speculation, Adam Newman was the man charged and ultimately convicted of the crime.

The only thing on Chloe's mind from then on was revenge. Believing Chloe the perfect person to help him exact his own plan of vengeance on his family, Victor Newman assured the release of Chloe out of the hospital long before she was ready.

Long story short, she and Kevin fell in love again, she killed Adam, fooled everyone and on their new wedding day, her world, and Kevin's came crashing down. Again.

With Chloe in the wind and her young daughter now known to be Kevin's, Kevin's life once again revolves around the woman he lost.

Victor cannot allow her to come back to Genoa City after helping her escape even if she killed his son. He's liable in his son's death.

Given the news about Rickaart, I'm expecting this story to drag on during the summer months in a very front-burner way and for Kevin to join Chloe with their daughter Bella wherever they may be.

Brewing Romance - The Young and the Restless

Kevin does have friends and family in Genoa City. His mother has even recently come back to town, but his heart has always been inextricably linked the most with Chloe.

Now that they have a child together, it will probably take a lot of convincing on the part of his family and friends to keep him in Genoa City through the summer which is as long as he'll be airing, as he'd much prefer to reunite his family, no matter where they might be.

**UPDATE**

Rickaart just released this statement on Instagram:

Fourteen years ago, I booked a two-week long gig on The Young and the Restless. In my wildest dreams, I could never have imagined what it would turn into: a career-defining experience that has brought me so much happiness and fulfillment. Playing Kevin and watching him evolve over the years has mirrored my real life in so many ways. We both found love, both became dads and we both have more gray hair now than we did in 2003. I have such love and fondness for the cast and crew of Y&R that when I watch Kevin enjoying himself in scenes, it's hard to know where he ends and Greg begins. At the moment it is unclear what lies ahead for Kevin and I, as we will be saying goodbye to Genoa City for a while. I am sad to leave a place I hold so dear but also really excited about what the future holds. I cannot overstate how much gratitude I have to all of you who have been such loud cheerleaders for me. You've all enriched my life. So stick around. The journey is just beginning. :)

How do you feel about Kevin's current storyline coming to an end? He won't be killed off, according to sources, so he may one day return to his glory days in Genoa City.

Do you think he'll be on his way to live with Chloe? What are your thoughts on the matter?
