The Vampire Diaries Clip: Explain, Stefan!

So... this is a tad awkward.

In the following clip from The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Episode 6, Caroline is pleased to be surprised by Stefan.

But she's then far from pleased to be surprised by Valerie... in a towel... having just spent the night with her boyfriend?

EXPLAIN, she demands of Stefan, which sets him off on the tale of Lily and Julian and how Lily wants to resurrect Julian and how if she does this could spell bad news for Valerie because he'll come after her and it's just a big giant mess all around.

Caroline doesn't seem to disagree with this analysis, but she does wonder: What does this have to do with us?!? How does this explain why Stefan cares so much?

Stefan, of course, has not yet told his girlfriend that his ex-girlfriend was once pregnant with his child.

Caroline is unaware of that connection or of how Julian put an end to the pregnancy or really anything that Stefan learned from Valerie on the previous Vampire Diaries Season 7 episode.

So Stefan just asks Caroline to trust him here, which is asking a whole lot, really.

Might Staroline be over before it has a chance to truly blossom? We're not feeling very good about this couple's future at the moment.

Look for Stefan and Damon to also be invited over to Lily's on "Best Served Cold," as she aims to create peace between the Heretics and her children.

But look for this peace offering to be summarily rejected.
