Netflix Acquires Old Seasons of Dexter
Matt Richenthal at .Dexter Morgan is bringing his knife set and blood slides to Netflix.
The Showtime series, which went off the air with an awful finale last month, will soon have its old seasons available on Netflix, an unusual move struck by a pay-television channel.
Most are hesitant to sell their programs to another pay service.
Under the terms of the contract, Showtime will maintain the rights to telecast all Dexter episodes, while also making the drama available on its digital platform Showtime Anytime.
CBS (which owns Showtime) is also selling reruns of Dexter to a basic cable network.
This is a major get for Netflix, which will be able to offer programming that its competitors - such as Hulu and Amazon Prime - do not possess.
