Gossip Girl to End With a "Gasp" Monday

by at . Comments

Much has already been said about Gossip Girl's 100th episode Monday night.

Heck, we're starting to wonder what hasn't been said about the milestone.

It’s Blair’s wedding! Georgina’s back! Love triangles/squares galore! So many Upper East Side events are just waiting to come to a head, for better or worse. But as we learned yesterday, one big twist remains a big mystery.

That bombshell, apparently comes at the very end.

“You have to see [the last few minutes] to believe them. I really think they will take people’s breath away,” EP Joshua Safran says. “Someone asked on Twitter, ‘Will we smile or cry at the end of the episode?’"

"And I said, ‘It will be more like a gasp.’”

Daniel, Serena

Executive Producer Stephanie Savage, who we can only hope played a major role in crafting the upcoming installment, explains that the final moment was something that “had to happen” in the 100th episode.

“That’s one of the fun things about having a mature show in Season Five, you feel like you can really have some fun. In the first couple of seasons, you feel like you have to keep certain things very guarded and protected because the hope is that you’ll have to make them last a long time,” she says.

Safran adds: “What we can say is why we made that decision will become clear with future episodes because, obviously, you will learn more about why that has happened, how that has happened. You see, it was such an easy decision ... It wasn’t something we belabored over or had long discussions about. It really wasn’t.”

“Obviously [the end] changes things. And what happens in the episode for Blair, Dan, Chuck, and Serena will become a whole new world for them. Obviously, we pushed the 100th episode as a special episode."

"A huge wedding, a royal wedding - it's a big episode. But it’s also the 13th episode of the season. So, the season arc does continue. The 100th is a turning point, connected to everything happening before.”

What do you think goes down at the end of the wedding-themed extravaganza to come? What could shock us at this point? Sound off on where you see the show heading - Monday and beyond - in the comments!

Am I the only one who doesn't want to find out who Gossip Girl is just yet? I would be quite happy to wait for that revelation until the bitter end.
@ilovechair. I guess there are different interpretations of literature. Having read P&P countless times I never got the attraction between the two at the outset. You can comment that someone is handsome but that does not necessarily indicate attraction. Austen was trying to illustrate the damage of only seeing something or someone at face value. At least we can agree that Jane was dull :-)
And I don't hate Chair in case you're wondering - I guess I'm just a little bored with all the back and forth.

I can't believe how these discussions always turn into CHAIR vs. DAIR. DAIR people need to remember that it is a TV series and don't think for one minute if DAIR does happen, that hurtful things won't happen between the characters. Since you have not seen what a relationship between DAIR would look like, you are comparing apples to oranges comparing DAIR and CHAIR....but carry on.

@LJ thinking exactly the same thing... wouldn't be surprised if we catch a glimpse of Kristen Bell in this one

What if this episode revealed who Gossip Girl actually was?? Wonder if that is even possible in order for the show to continue?

@Lisie
Darcy is in my mind proud of his family and his status. When he proposed to her he told her that he fought against his feelings because marrying her would be degrading to him because of her inferior family. He later overcomes that through his love for Lizzie. In my opinion Dan is not less worthy of Blair. But like you wrote Blair is a spoilt brat and status is very important to her. She dated Nate, Chuck and now she dates a prince. So to Blair it is important to have a relationship with a person who has either the same status that she has or a higher status. In addition I don't think that Dan would enjoy the UES lifestyle like Blair does. Even in the last episode he complained how expensive the coffee is. And Blair does enjoy her luxurious lifestyle.

@Lisie Well, I guess everybody has their own opinion on books and characters. When Lizzie meets Darcy for the first time everybody says that he's handsome. Elizabeth always speaks her mind, so she would have contradicted that if she didn't think that he is attractive. He refuses to dance with Lizzie and from that moment on she is determined not to like him and refuses to dance with him at the next dance. That's a very strong reaction. So in my mind she did feel an initial attraction towards him but that turned into disdain because he offended her. He on the other hand wasn't really paying attention to her on their first meeting. But on the next dance when he looked at her properly so that he could affirm his critical opinion he found himself feeling attracted to her because of her eyes and her wit. So in my mind there was an initial attraction, a spark between them. Besides both characters later in the book can't recall the exact moment they fell in love with each other.

@raven it was unhealthy in the past because they were too immature and need to grow first. chuck and blair need to grow and become better people before ever getting back together.

They also sacrifice each other! I don't think their relationship is healthy at all. For either of them.

@Aint born typical are saying that chuck is not a good match for blair? do u only pay attention to the bad chair scenes and not the good? chuck and blair are true love they make sacrifices for each other.

Lizzie and Darcy aren't lovers/attracted at the start. He claims she is 'tolerable' and she comments on how predisposed he is to be displeased with the society he finds in Hertfordshire. He warms to her first of all but she is distracted by Wickham (another typical bad boy!). Darcy was not brought up to be proud etc. It is mentioned alot in the book about how good his father was and what a good brother, friend and master he is. Both of them fundamentally misunderstand each other and their relationship builds once they come to realise their misconceptions. I don't believe Blair would be giving up her status. After all she's Blair Waldorf and strong in her own right. Just because Dan's family aren't minted doesn't make him any less worthy of her!
