Wait a second, wasn't Osgood killed by Missy on Doctor Who Season 8 Episode 12?
This is a time travel show after all, so it's possible these latest events take place before that fateful Cybermen invasion led by Missy. Since the installment also features the Zygons, those pesky shapeshifting aliens, perhaps they've taken Osgood's form?
An interesting twist might be that Missy killed a Zygon/Osgood duplicate last season. Which of these theories works for you?
Either way, there are now 20 million Zygons living amongst us with one goal: conquering the world. When Osgood is kidnapped, the nasty creatures mange to steal the location of every single Zygon on Earth. Not cool.
"We have a Zygon revolution on our hands" the Doctor warns his friends. Capaldi has been playing it light lately, but he's certainly not smiling here.
I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of the Zygons, but I will say the shapeshifting is a great storytelling device. I do love it when UNIT resurfaces, so that should balance things out a bit. They're the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. of the Whoniverse! Besides, I fell in love with Osgood straightaway watching her fangirl over the Doctor.
Was anyone else really bummed out when Missy killed our favorite new UNIT scientist? Personally, I'm hoping this installment is indeed a sequel and it was a Zygon that the Mistress disposed of in the finale last season. Don't let me down Moffat and company; bring the real Osgood back and I'll forgive the sonic shades.
Anyway the Doctor, Clara and UNIT soon find themselves scattering across the globe in an effort to not only save Osgood, but put an end to the Zygon uprising as well.
Since this is the first half of another two-parter, I'm assuming UNIT is taken down and the Doctor is left to his own devices.
Can he reach his #1 fan in time or should we prepare to lose Osgood all over again? Is mankind headed toward global extinction?
Tune in Saturday to Doctor Who Season 9 Episode 7 to witness all the madness!
