Eddie gets called when Shawn is caught cutting school and drinking with his friends and agrees not to tell the family if it never happens again but she does share it with Jamie. When Shawn gets into trouble for fighting in school, he tells Danny about Eddie stepping in when he got caught drinking and Danny is furious with both her and Eddie.
Jamie tells Danny he thinks Shawn is acting out because Jack is leaving for college and he doesn’t want him to go. Jamie felt the same way when Danny left for the Marines. At first, Danny scoffs at the idea but then makes sure to include Shawn in moving Jack to school and seeing the campus. Danny apologizes to Jamie and Eddie.
Anthony goes on a date with someone he met on a dating app but when he wakes up in the morning he finds her gone and his wallet and Rolex watch missing. He realizes that everything she told him about herself was fake. Erin investigates even though Anthony is too embarrassed and wants her to drop it.
Erin tells Anthony he was a victim and has nothing to be ashamed of and when they track down the woman, whose real name is Maude, they find she has warrants for her arrest up and down the east coast. Erin and Anthony arrest her and Anthony agrees to testify.
Danny and Baez investigate when Dr. Max McCandless, a famous fertility specialist is shot at in his car in broad daylight but isn’t severely injured. Turns out Dr. Candless has been using his own sperm to impregnate his patients for decades. One of the heartbroken fathers shot at McCandless. Both the father and Dr. McCandless are arrested.
After Detective John Merino is shot on the job, he is told he won’t be able to go back on active duty. Merino asks Frank to find out who wouldn’t allow his son, Officer Jay Merino, to take the post at the hospital when he was shot and fire that person.
Frank learns that Jay was offered the hospital post but turned it down. Jay tells Frank he never wanted to be a cop but it’s the family legacy. Later, Frank offers Jay a position to help with Housing and Urban Development, which is Jay’s master's degree. He will have to quit the department, but his father is okay with that because the request came from Frank.
At their Sunday family dinner, Frank assures Jack that he doesn’t have to follow after the family legacy, but he should figure out who he wants to become as he leaves for college.
