In 1931 New York City, a group of Chronicoms attack a group of police officers and assume their identities.
They kill a bootlegger who was meeting with the officers.
Coulson, now an LMD, reunites with Daisy, Simmons, and Mack. He has a hard time adjusting when information from the past two years catch up with him.
Mack shuts him down when he starts to spiral.
Simmons explains to the team that they are in 1931 because the Chronicoms plan to erase S.H.I.E.L.D. from history and the Zephyr followed them there.
Fitz isn't there and Simmons doesn't know where he is because the Chronicoms scanned their brains.
Mack wakes Coulson back up. Mack, Coulson, Daisy, and Deke, disguise themselves as Canadian Mounties to investigate the crime scene that the Chronicoms left.
Coulson finds a bottle of whiskey left behind by the bootlegger and recognizes a swordfish on it. The SSR had a safe house that used to be a speakeasy and the password to get in was swordfish.
Simmons gives Yo-Yo a pair of advanced arms that Fitz built.
Coulson and Mack go to the speakeasy.
The Chronicoms attack Daisy and Deke at the crime scene. They get away.
Mack and Coulson find Ernest Koenig at the speakeasy.
Daisy and Deke steal a truck with an unconscious Chronicom on board and drive it back to the Zephyr.
Koenig runs the speakeasy. He tells Mack and Coulson that they're supplying a party for FDR, who is the Governor of New York. He then goes on to become president and forms the SSR.
They figure out they assumed the faces of the police who will be security at the party to try to assassinate FDR.
The team realizes that FDR isn't the target, a man who works for Koenig named Freddy is.
Freddy is approached at the party by a woman who worked with his deceased father. She has a job for him, to deliver a few vials of mysterious liquid to the docks.
The Chronicoms shoot the woman and the team rescue Freddy just before they are about to kill him.
Daisy and Coulson take the injured woman back to Koenig's speakeasy.
Koenig tells them that Freddy's real name is Wilfred Malick, the father of Gideon Malick, one of the heads of HYDRA.
May escapes her healing pod.
