Netflix has not forgotten about Mindhunter after all.
Mindhunter executive producer/director David Fincher announced during an appearance on The Treatment‘s Elvis Mitchell podcast, that Season 2 will premiere on Friday, August 16.
What's more, the second season will span eight episodes, two fewer than the freshman run.
The freshman run aired on Netflix back in October 2017, so fans have been on tenterhooks eagerly awaiting a premiere date for the new run for quite some time.
The best part of this news? August 16 is not that far away, so there's that.
Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany will be back for the new episodes as FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, while Anna Torv will return in the role of psychology professor Wendy Carr.
Little is actually known about Mindhunter Season 2, aside from the fact that it will include Damon Herriman (Justified) as Charles Manson.
Mindhunter was an immediate success story for Netflix, garnering a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and going on to land on several end of year lists as one of the best shows.
The true test will be whether viewers embrace the show with open arms upon its grand return.
The long wait in between seasons for a second season show is not a good move, and it's slightly concerning when you consider the fact that Netflix has been canceling shows a lot of late.
Will Mindhunter find itself in danger?
Time will tell.
But for now, we can look forward to these eight new episodes that are on the horizon.
What are you most excited about?
