Quantico Round Table: Where's Caleb?!

at .

On Quantico Season 2 Episode 15, Clay and Nimah both try to be taken seriously by members of the team. For Clay, he works on trying to gain respect from the team and to have them view him as their leader and not Owen. It doesn't go too well. Nimah, on the other hand, tries to get Clay to stop dismissing her and allow her to be an active, valued, member of the team.

Below, TV Fanatics Jasmine Peterson and Allison Nichols, along with TV Fanatic reader Meaghan Frey, as they discuss whether Leon's really dead (and if we should care), whether or not Sasha is a good addition to the cast and more from the hour. Leon's dead. React.

Jasmine: Eh. Is he for sure dead? I second-guess everything. I mean it sucks to be him doesn't it?

He told Alex and Dayanna that folks were coming for them and they just left the guy hanging – or rather bleeding in a bathtub – instead of taking him seriously. They didn't even check back in with him.

If your friend tells you that people are trying to kill him and then seemingly falls off the grid, wouldn't you check back in at some point? Alex should know better. You were handsome and looked great naked, Leon. R.I.P.

Meaghan: I'm with Jasmine. Is he really dead? Until we see his face on the body, I'm not convinced. Could be that someone is helping him fake his death because of him being worried someone was after him. If he is dead, not really a loss to the show, in my opinion.

Harry was the only CIA recruit I got invested in. If the rest of them dropped off the face of the earth, Dayanna included, it wouldn't bother me one bit.

Allison: Oh geez, I somehow forgot about the patented Quantico fake out. I’m okay with his death, as awful as it sounds. Like Meaghan, I didn’t fall in love with any CIA recruit other than Harry so that I won’t miss Leon.

Plus, as much as I am not a fan of adding ANOTHER mystery to the mix, killing off a major character is a good way to kick start another mystery.

Who do you think would be a better leader for the team: Clay or Owen?

Jasmine: Haha! Bless Clay's wee heart. Is it even a question? Owen. Hands down.

Everything Owen told Clay was accurate. Clay doesn't carry himself like a leader. He doesn't command the room nor the respect or confidence of his team. That's entirely on him.

The fact that he's kind of a jerk at times (particularly with Nimah) doesn't help matters either. He has things to offer, no doubt, but actually leading? Owen has that in the bag.

Meaghan: Surprisingly, Clay. Owen is a wonderful teacher and will be a great resource to Clay and the other team members, but they don't need a teacher they need a leader.

Owen is better off being a member of the team. Owen has more experience, but eventually, Clay will come into his own and offer a perspective and leadership quality that Owen can't. After all, he is a Haas. Leadership is in his genes.

Allison: Initially I was going to say both of them, but then I realized I’m not entirely sure what Clay brings to the table. We haven’t really seen him do anything exceptional or something that Owen can’t.

Owen offers experience and knows how to lead FBI and CIA agents. That’s something Clay won’t learn overnight. Clay needs to prove himself.

What's your take on Sasha?

Jasmine: I don't like her. She's a little too overconfident for a woman screwing with an agency that could very well make her disappear if she causes too many problems. I don't even like Ryan, and I was annoyed at her threatening him, but Ryan will do the Ryan thing and sleep with her or something, which will only annoy me more.

But I did laugh when she made Ryan because he and Alex both suck at hiding their identities.

Meaghan: Can the AIC take care of her next, please? She is overly ambitious, and it is going to get her killed. Unfortunately, until then we are stuck dealing with her.

Allison: I am not a fan of her storyline at all. It just feels unnecessary. I don’t need another complication/mystery. Let’s just finish off the AIC, okay?

As a character, I don’t hate her. I like that she’s not an idiot and figured out Ryan’s shitty cover. The one thing that really bothers me is that she threatened to expose CIA agents, which would get them killed. She knows this because she’s not stupid, but she does it anyway. It’s hard to like her after that.

What are your thoughts on the shift in gears/how the AIC is being hunted?

Jasmine: I'm the enjoying this shift and overall tone of the show now. It has breathed life into the series and made things more exciting.

I'm more invested in it now than I was in the first half of the season that's for sure. My only complaint is they keep teasing us with Caleb cameos in the promos, and he hasn't shown up yet.

Meaghan: Last week I was hesitant, but I feel like it is finding its rhythm now. This episode was probably my favorite in a long time. This season had so much promise, with the switch in focus from the FBI to CIA, but it has been so bogged down by the split timeline that all that potential went to waste.

Now I feel like we are getting the best of both worlds with the FBI and CIA, and I'm starting to enjoy it again. I agree with Jasmine though. Stop teasing us with Caleb's return if you aren't going to deliver!!!

Allison: I would feel better if we were making more AIC progress. I think I’m mainly still frustrated from the first half of the season, so it’s hard for me to fully enjoy this new task force. I just want the AIC mystery to be over. The task force itself is a lot more entertaining and enjoyable to watch than the split timelines from the first half of the season.

Seriously, where is Caleb?!

Who was the MVP of the episode?

Jasmine: Everything in me wants to say Harry, I mean his scenes with Alex and his team-up with Dayanna were awesome, but I'll be fair, and say Nimah.

She got to save the day and stick it to Clay with his inexplicable chip he has on his shoulder about her being the "glorified mascot." She got to be a BAMF.

Meaghan: Fake news. Clearly, one of the executive orders Trump passed is that he gets all the Quantico scripts leaked to him in advance and that's where his obsession with fake news came from.

Other than that, in an effort to not say Harry, I will go with Clay. I think he has already started to grow into his leadership role more, and he has made a lot of strides since last week. It was very big for him to accept Harry into the team and to finally welcome Nimah. I'm telling you, there is hope for him yet.

Allison: Nimah, definitely. She saved the mission and kicked ass doing it. My favorite moment was definitely her showing up Clay.

Quantico Season 2 Episode 15 Quotes

You already know, Alex is the hero. The problem is, she always has to be the hero, no matter the situation. Impetuous, reckless, and emotional.

I need to know my team better than any of the collaborators that might come after them.
