Heathers Reboot: Coming to Paramount Network This Month!

Heathers will air in the U.S. after all!

Despite being delayed multiple times, and ultimately canceled by Paramount Network, it has now been revealed that the series will air on the network as part of the network's Halloween programming. 

However, there will be some caveats for fans who tune in:

The series filmed ten episodes, but due to the subject matter, some content has been removed, and it will now span nine episodes. 

According to Paramount, the final two episodes have been combined to create a cliffhanger, and the content in a first-person video game scene from an earlier installment has been removed. 

The nine episodes will air across five nights starting October 25th, and concluding October 29th. On the night the season/series finale airs, the network will also air a Heathers-themed episode of Lip Sync Battle. 

"I am beyond excited that American audiences will finally get to see Heathers. Obviously, I wish fans could see the 10th episode but the producers and I felt strongly about not changing anything in it, and so, it’s been considered too controversial for U.S. audiences," showrunner Jason Micallef said.

"Still, every day at this job is a delightful dream so it’s hard to complain. Plus, what matters most is fans will now get to see the satire we all love so much.”

"This is a high school show, we're blowing up the school, there are guns in the school, it's a satire and there are moments of teachers having guns. It's hitting on so many hot topics," said Keith Cox, Paramount Network to THR about the decision to ax Heathers. 

"This company can't be speaking out of both sides of its mouth, saying the youth movement is important for us and we've done all these wonderful things to support that and at the same time, we're putting on a show that we're not comfortable with," he continued.

"The combination of a high school show with these very dark moments didn't feel right."

At the time of the cancellation, it was revealed the network was trying to find a new destination for the series to call home. 

However, it appears that those efforts did not come to fruition. Despite this, Heathers has premiered in multiple countries internationally.
