Halloween is just around the corner and picking a costume that's creative, unique and relevant is no easy feat.
If you are looking to gain some inspiration from Hollywood movies, sadly, you'll probably be stuck wearing the same exact thing as every other person at the party or bar.
Instead, think smaller. Let's switch out the big screen for the small screen and turn to your TV and computer screen. Chances are, your perfect costume is recorded somewhere on your DVR just waiting to be played back.
There have been several TV-inspired Halloween costumes "wins" in the past few years, but 2017 has been one heck of a year for TV shows.
From diner murder mysteries drenched in sticky maple syrup, to coming of age shows set in totalitarian societies that don't acknowledge women's basic rights, to the glittery female-driven world of 80s wrestling.
Simply put, there's so much versatility in this year's roster, there's something for everyone, regardless of whether you're looking for a solo, couples or group ensemble.
We've taken it upon ourselves to put together a list of 13 costumes that will help ease your search this all Hallow's eve.
Hopefully, this inspires you to show off your love for all things television.
Riverdale's Josie & the Pussycats
This is the perfect costume for a group of friends that are ready to slay Halloween. You can opt for a three or four person ensemble, with each pussycat can showing off their own unique style in their leopard print. Just make sure you have the cat ears – a pussycat would never be seen without the ears. All items can easily be found at any Halloween store!
Will & Grace - the Fab Foursome
It's like 1998 all over again with the highly anticipated reboot of Will & Grace! Grab four of your closest friends and get creative honey. For Will you need your most pristine suit, for Jack you need a collared shirt with a sweater vest and some khakis, for Karen you need a cleavage-baring top, a short skirt, a martini glass and a fiery wig, and for Grace, well, just make sure you don't wear a bra.
Supergirl vs. Kara Danvers
Seeing double? Sometimes Cat Grant thinks she is. Dress up like Supergirl and have your bestie dress up like Kara Danvers. You can find the superhero costume at practically any Halloween store and Kara will require a few pieces from your closet. Keep your superhero identity hidden by pairing a collared sweater with a pencil skirt and those signature thick-framed glasses. You'll have everyone fooled.
American Horror Story - Clown Posse
For some reason, unbeknownst to me, clowns are "in." While most of your friends will be dressed up as Pennywise from the new movie "It," you need to make a statement as the clown from American Horror Story: Cult. I'm not talking about Twisty either, I'm talking the scary cult of clowns you saw in the previews. Just make sure you ask a makeup artist to do your makeup – all those colors could easily bleed…
Stranger Things - Eleven
Talk about perfect timing. If you dress up as Eleven (or really any of the characters) from Stranger Things, it'll coincide with the Season 2 premiere on Netflix. Best of all, Spirit Halloween is carrying a whole Stranger Things costume collection so if you don't necessarily want to be Eleven, you can choose from Joyce, Jim Hopper, Barb, etc.
GLOW - Body-Slammin Ruth or Debbie
GLOW shot onto the scene this summer as the most binge-watched show. In addition to providing tons of laughter and drama, it also gave us a newfound love for 80s style. Replica's of Ruth or Debbie's glitter and spandex bodysuits are available at Spirit Halloween now. Who knows, maybe you'll even body-slam a few people in the costume competition!
