Recap

Everyone got what they wanted at the end of Younger Season 5 Episode 12, but no one seems too happy about it.

Liza and Charles are finally able to go public with their relationship, but considering Charles gave up his company to be with Liza -- something he reminds her of multiple times -- there's a level of tension in the air.

Charles promises he's going to enjoy his free time, and one of the first things he does is buy Liza a proper bed.

However, Liza becomes suspicious when Charles isn't forthcoming about his meeting with the recently unemployed, Zane.

Why won't he tell her what they're plotting?

Kelsey is now the publisher of Empirical/ Millennial, yet she's realizing that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Becoming the Queen B may have been a major step in her career, but it also means she's dealing more with budgets and spreadsheets and less with content.

After chatting with an author who believes females are given failing companies in order to fail, she starts doubting her skills and abilities.

Quinn informs them that someone is going to leak the story that Charles left the company because he was having an affair with a 26-year-old assistant.

If Liza comes clean about her age, the world will assume that Kelsey is Charles' lover.

She also doesn't want their great work as an all-female publishing house to be overshadowed by ageism, identity fraud, or the fact that Charles is still married and having an affair.

In fact, Diana even attacks Kelsey for "bottoming her way to the top," which forces Liza to blurt out that she's Charles' lover in front of the whole company.

Diana is disappointed and angry and contacts Redmond to find her a new job.

Zane comes to Kelsey as a friend only to tell her that she cannot let Diana leave Empirical or else she'll be losing the best in the biz.

When Diana goes MIA, Kelsey and Liza track her down to Crisis, a gay bar, where they all belt out "9 to 5" by Dolly Parton, and Kelsey leaves the bar musing about how people in the 80s only worked 9 to 5 hours.

Josh is confirmed to be the father of Claire's baby, as expected.

Out of everyone, he seems most excited about his new reality.

He informs Liza by text message, and when they finally meet face-to-face, he remarks about how timing didn't work out for them, but he's still going to need her help raising this child.

"I'm a baby whisperer," Liza replies.

Younger Season 6 Episode 1 Quotes

Kelsey, listen to me. You are a role model for every young girl with an English degree who wants to believe that she didn't throw away four years of her life, okay?

Lauren

Kelsey: Are you okay?
Liza: I am so happy for you, Kelsey. And I will do everything I can to support you. It's just he gave up a lot for me.
Kelsey: Yeah, he did. I know that this is his family legacy, and we're going to make it stronger than it's ever been.
