When Sookie is helping Eric find the thief in his bar, she discovers it's a Vampire who comes after her. When Bill kills the Vampire to defend Sookie, he must pay a price for his crime against his kind.
Sookie, suspecting Bill of being burned int he building, tries to hold herself together until she finds out he's still alive. Tara considers going to the exorcist herself after lashing out at Sookie and Sam.
When another Bon Temps woman, Dawn, is found dead, Jason Stackhouse is again brought into custody. Sookie tries to use her ability to find the real killer and goes with Bill to Fangtasia, a vampire bar.
The show premise is introduced via a television show that a synthetic blood, Tru Blood, has been introduced that will allow Vampires to live amongst the living in society. A waitress, Sookie Stackhouse, meets a vampire, Bill.
Grandma [about people charging vampires for sex]: Wonder how much one would charge for something like that? Jason: A thousand bucks. Sookie: See, now that just makes me sick. Grandma: I know. What kind of cheap woman could ever do something like that? Sookie: No it makes me sick that they're getting a thousand bucks to lay there and do nothing while I bust my ass for ten bucks an hour plus tips
