The girls celebrate Christmas Eve by grudgingly attending Ali's Ice Ball on Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Episode 13: How the "A" Stole Christmas.

Spencer is out on bail for her murder charges against Bethany. Not feeling very festive, things change when Hanna receives papers from a lawyer that Mona instructed she get if anything happened to her. Basically Mona had a will. The papers are layouts of Ali's house with instructions to all of her hiding places.

The girls, their significant others, and Lucas all decide that once Ali arrives as the dance they will keep her distracted so that Hanna and Spencer can search her house for clues to connect her to Bethany and clear Spencer's name. 

They find a passport, some classified ad conversations, and mainly a pen pal letter between Ali and Bethany that proves Ali invited her up for Labor Day weekend. In the meantime, A enters the house and Toby isn't able to alert Hanna in time. Hanna gets knocked out by A.

When everyone sleeps at Spencer's and celebrates Christmas, they are alerted to something outside the next night. A decorate the tree and barn and wrote "Merry Christmas Bitches."

Meanwhile, Ali had visits from Mona's ghosts this episode as well as a real visit from Cece Drake. Mona's ghost reminded her of a Christmas when she found two identical sweaters but Mrs. D made her lie and say that there was only one.
