They make a deal: he'll give her the sword, and a spell to bring Killian back, if she agrees to help him take out the Black Fairy. Rumple explains that she's his mother and the creator of the Dark Curse so Emma agrees to help. Gideon sets up the portal to bring Killian back, but a giant spider comes out of it. The two try to fight it off, but then Gideon turns on Emma. He's the one who brought the spider. He needs her to die so he can use her power to get back to the Black Fairy's realm.
Another flashback shows the Black Fairy taking Gideon's heart after he tries to help his friend once again. She wants to use him to kill the savior. She tells him and Belle that their son is evil and there's no hope for him. The Black Fairy surprises Gideon at the clock tower. Emma was close enough to death to allow her to slip through.
Trapped in the Enchanted Forest, Killian attempted to gamble with Blackbeard for a bean. In exchange, he'd give him the Jolly Roger. Thanks to Gideon, Killian couldn't travel back to Storybrooke, and ended up in Neverland instead. Blackbeard knocked him out and left the island on a rowboat as the Lost Boys hunted Killian.
