Ben takes Lily on a snake bite call that isn’t a bite at all. It’s actually an anaconda wrapped around Brad, a wildlife photographer who was trying to take its picture.

Ben, Zee, and Lily are about to sedate the snake and try to pull it off of Brad when they realize his pelvis is broken.  The pressure from the snake is stopping him from bleeding to death.  They have to get him and the snake back to the clinic.

As they try to carry the injured man and snake on a stretcher the snake is startled by a fall into the water.  It swims away leaving Brad to bleed out.  Ben uses cloth from the stretcher to make a tourniquet and they get Brad into surgery.  Before he is sedated, Brad proposes to his girlfriend.

Brad almost dies but Mina manages to insert a needle into his heart and saves him.

Otis sends Tommy to a local village to help build a latrine.  Fifty percent of the illnesses they see at the clinic are due to contaminated drinking water.  While at the village, Tommy saves a girl named Sofia who is having a seizure and brings her back to the clinic.

Tommy insults Papa, the local medicine man who is treating Sofia.  Otis explains to Tommy that he has to respect the local customs if he is going to make a difference here.  Otis works with Papa to get Sofia on medicine to control her seizures.

Tommy realizes the locals are scared of Sofia.  They think demons have entered through a scar on her face and have been causing her seizures.  He speaks with Papa and is allowed to repair her scar.  Even Otis compliments his work.

Mina and Ryan accompany a local man named Bruno on a remote housecall.  Bruno says his sister is very ill.  Mina diagnoses that she has pnemonia and is able to treat the woman but then Bruno collapses.  He was actually far more ill than his sister and the antibiotics do not work.  Bruno dies.

Ryan lashes out at Mina when she refuses to stay and comfort the sister.  She says she is a good doctor but a lousy physician.  A doctor treats where a physician heals.

Lily tells Ben that the text she has saved on her phone “Smile. Don’t kill anyone” was sent to her by her fiancé just before he died.  Ben convinces her that the text is a crutch that she no longer needs and she throws the phone away.

Ryan tells Ben she may be back at the clinic but that doesn’t mean she is back with him.  She also points out that the way Ben looks at Lily is the way he used to look at her.

Zee and Otis begin a romantic relationship.

I agree with everyone who posted. Espesially Nostringsattached, it was a very emotional episode and with the snake and when they found the ring it was very emotional. I felt so bad and i was so happy that he lived, i think it just set a nice vibe for the rest that he lived and is able to get married. And Kathrine, i also cant tell if Ryan is a good guy or a bad guy.... like she is oviously a good person, but is she the person we like or not in the way or Ben and Lily's relationship. I have been watching a couple previews on youtube and it shows him and her up agaisnt the wall.... i strangly believe that nothing will happen between them, maybe 1 or 2 hook ups but i dont think anything will come out of it, and also you see Ryan sneak into his bed, she snuck there he didnt invite her. I do believe though that Ben and Lily will have something very strong. They look like they could be a very cute couple.... only 5 more days! Cant wait. The second episode to me was better then the first so what that means is that is will get better every episode (hopefully). The proposal was just absolutly adorable, i cant get over how aborable it was. Just too cute! Cant wait for next week, is it me or does anyone else LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!

Kathrine, I completely agree with u, and yes I LOVED this episode. I was very emotional, especially near the very end. The whole part about the "smile-don't kill anyone" was very emotional, and I loved it. Near the end when she through her cell phone in the garbage, it represented a new chapter in her life starting and an old chapter closing. Also, I think the person that made her realize that it was time to move on was Ben. I think this because maybe she is realizing that it is is ok to fall/be in love again. We will see what happens between those two.
Another thing I liked bout this episode was when the guy with the snake attached to him proposed to his girlfriend. It was adorable and I loved when she accepted, it just made me feel very happy. I mean did aanybody else think that was adorable? Anyways can't wait for the next episode!!!

I just finished watching the episode and it was just amazing . I enjoyed every part of every second! I really do hope that Ben and Lily have something they would look so cute together. I loved the whole "Papa" thing, it was very interesting. I can't tell if Ryan is a the good person or the bad....
I cannot wait for next week, why do they make us wait 7 days.. its not fair! I also enjoyed learning more about Lily's past (fiance). It was very sad. I had many emotions during this episode, i cried at some parts and laughed at some and everything in between! I found that i liked this episode better then the premier. It had more drama but that makes sense because in the premier you have introduce all the characters and some story lines but then in episode 2 you start drama and then in 3 you get romance and drama and so on. Who else absolutly loved this episode?

im so excited!

Off the Map Season 1 Episode 2 Quotes

I find it the height of irony that he's the one acting like a whore and we're the ones bathing like hookers.

Lily: I could never get naked in public like that, all Jane of the Jungle.
Mina: Please, stay your control freak self. I can't handle more naked people.
