On Major Crimes Season 6 Episode 11, Dylan thinks he is a step ahead of the Major Crimes Unit as they struggle to find Stroh's mother, Gwendolyn. The team eventually finds her and her caretaker, as she is now an elderly woman with dementia. She mentions a woman named Mary Wellington. The team recruits Dr. Joe to talk to her and finds out that when Stroh was a teenager he killed a neighbor girl .

Rusty is upset because he learns that Stroh, like him, was abandoned by his mother and then became a lawyer practicing in Los Angeles. Andy tries to reassure him that he is not like Stroh because he is not a serial killer, but Rusty feels he has to identify with Stroh like Sharon told him. Andy doesn't really know how to advise him.

Rusty soon has bigger problems, as it turns out Gus saw Stroh also and Chief Mason won't pay for an extra security detail for him. Provenza decides that Gus and Rusty should both live in the condo to save on security costs and Gus seems to think he's going to take advantage. Meanwhile, Stroh's accomplice gets one up on the cops at the last second.
