On Madam Secretary Season 6 Episode 2, Elizabeth has to throw the opening pitch out at a Mets game, but that's the least of her concerns.
At a press conference, reporters question Daisy about Elizabeth's new gas tax, which they think will be harmful to lower income Americans, and protesters begin demanding its repeal. Elizabeth wants to engage with the protesters, which Russell thinks she shouldn't do, and her attempt to talk to them makes things worse because she recommends checking your air pressure in your tires before driving anywhere and the media paints her as out of touch.
Meanwhile, Mike has to testify at the Senate Committee hearing. He tells a story about how Elizabeth was burned out from campaigning and found a dying bird that she insisted on tending to. She then attempted to get the endorsement of an older Senator in Maine. Mike found him dead in the bathroom.
Mike says he called 911 from a pay phone because he was told that's what you were supposed to do. However, he didn't leave his name, which leaves him open to the accusation that he murdered the Senator when the guy wouldn't give Elizabeth an endorsement.
