The show picks up at the scene of Charlotte's death. Everyone is trying, but there isn't any DNA, no fingerprints. Lucifer can't ever see her again.
Cain is there directing the scene even happy that Amenadiel isn't around. One less thing to juggle, he says.

He looks at the waffle iron and all of its potential, tossing it across the room and breaking the table. Then he sees a folder Charlotte had on the table. She was researching Cain.

Maze is being held in a basement somewhere by two goons are are not a match for Maze. The first word out of her mouth is Linda.
When Lucifer reveals he's known about The Sinnerman, Dan attacks. Chloe is pissed and wonders why Lucifer never told her. Lucifer said he tried but she wouldn't listen. She said he said she was immortal and that's different. Lucifer said he has always told her the truth. She keeps getting angry over his "metaphors" but he's not using them.
They go to the place who they think Cain would frame and all the evidence was there. Dan starts flipping out on the driver.
He called The Sinnerman. Every time he looks in the mirror, all he can see is a monster. He sneezed and killed a bike rider. it was all taken away.
Dan asks Ella for a favor. She can't tell anyone. She can't tell anyone and the first thing she does is give the phone to Pierce. Which has to mean that's exactly what they expected.
Dan is at home pretending to be drunk. The bad guy points his gun at Dan and Dan and Chloe are all over him.
Lucifer goes to Pierce in the meantime.
Ridiculously, Cain tells Lucifer the truth. He didn't mean to kill Charlotte. He was trying to kill Amenadiel. He thought if he killed God's favored son, it might bring back his mark.
Lucifer finally realized he gave himself the monster face. And he also gave himself his wings back. He felt like he wasn't a monster anymore.
For the first time in his miserable life, Cain was selfless. He deserved his mortality and that's why he got it.
Chloe tries to call and play sweet girl. It doesn't work. Cain is feeling pretty damn good about things until he discovers all of his people dead and Maze gone.
Linda tells Maze that emotions don't make you weak. They make you strong, and this is the strongest she's ever seen Maze.
Dan gets the biggest goon to assure him if he can protect his sister, Kelsey.
They discover it's a trap too late. Chloe and Lucifer are already inside of it. This is the big cliffhanger.
Chloe steps in front of Lucifer. She will not allow Marcus to kill Lucifer.
When Cain screams to Lucifer to finish it, Lucifer's wings come out and envelop both him and Chloe. He's bleeding and being shot to shit, but suddenly he disappears with Chloe in his arms.
She was wearing a bulletproof vest and wakes on the roof with Lucifer.
Lucifer and his bloodstained wings fly down to the fight. He takes out everyone else. Cain empty's his chamber on Lucifer.
But Cain has Maze's blade. Lucifer uses it against Cain and when he talked Cain into sending himself to hell, he immediately regrets it and gets his Devil face back just as Chloe walks into the room.
