Law & Order: SVU Season 17 Episode 7 tackles the issue of teen pregnancy among a super religious family. The Bakers are a religious family that has 13 kids and a reality show depicting their life. During a purity ceremony for 13 year old Lane, an event resembling a wedding that the family is very proud and excited about, the girl faints from low blood pressure, and at the hospital it is discovered she is pregnant.
The Bakers would rather not involve the police, but because Lane is only 13 SVU is required to investigate whether she is a victim of statuatory rape. The parents and Lane herself don't really want to cooperate. Lane says she promised her rapist not to tell and won't give a name. She eventually claims it was a cameraman on the show.
The Bakers claim Lane would never lie, and there is evidence the cameraman kept footage of the girls undressing for his personal use. However, he turns out to have had a vasectomy so he cannot be the father of Lane's baby. The detectives learn that Lane's brother Graham inappropriately touched a piano teacher who came to the family home and suspicion falls on him but he has left the country.
The detectives hit roadblocks throughout the investigation, but with the help of a local cop find out more information about Graham. When a paternity test shows Graham is not the father of baby Tate, who turns out to belong to an older sister, the police must turn to another suspect. Meanwhile, Rollins has more difficulties with her pregnancy and is put on bed rest.
