Recap

RUFUS AND LILY

They've been avoiding each other, ostensibly because of Serena and Brown, but really because of lingering issues about their compatibility. He does not compromise. She does not accept that he isn't part of her "world."

Et cetera.

After the kids finally get the two to talk, they get into a huge fight at a diner ... then realize they can't be without each other.

They decide to take a leap and not only get married, but move UP their wedding. Everyone starts scrambling to plan it THE NEXT DAY.

DAN, VANESSA AND GEORGINA

Olivia's in Japan for a movie and Dan is IMing her like a madman. Georgina is back in town and not pleased that he's dating someone so soon. G tells Vanessa that she wasn't actually with her folks - she was in Boston, where she met the most amazing guy (Scott) who had a lot to get off his chest.

Get Dan to dump the whore, she tells V, or she'll spill the beans that Scott is Rufus and Lily's child and worse, that V knew the whole time.

V tries to no avail to get Dan to break up with Olivia by telling her she's dating Orlando Bloom, or pregnant, or whatever she read in the celebrity gossip magazines.

Jenny and Eric theorize that V is doing this because she wants Dan for herself.

Dan approaches her about this, and Vanessa says he's got it all wrong. She has to tell him the truth about Scott then. Dan is pretty surprised, obviously, but rather than rushing to tell his dad, he decides to placate Georgina b/c Rufus and Lily's wedding is that afternoon and he doesn't want her to ruin it.

Dan decides he's gonna fake it and meets Georgina in the park prior to the wedding. He pretends he dumped Olivia, and asks G out on a date. She tries to score an invite to the wedding but he says no, how about the next day. She agrees, but after he leaves, immediately figures out that DAN IS A BIG FAT LIAR.

As a result, she calls Scott and invites him to a wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

CHUCK, BLAIR, NATE, BREE, SERENA AND CARTER

Chuck and Blair meet Nate and Bree for dim sum. Serena and Carter, who are holed up at Blair's mom's penthouse apparently were also invited but he bailed because Bree was going to be there.

Chuck observes that Bree knows Carter after he brings up his name, and wonders what's going on. He asks her in private what the deal is. She says she can't say but to let him know if he knows Carter's whereabouts.

Blair gushes about Carter and how good he is with Serena, while not even trying to mask how bad she dislikes Bree and Nate moving on.

Chuck points out that Bree is not necessarily a piranha and Carter's obviously no prince.

Pressing, and increasingly worried about Serena, Chuck finds out from Bree what Carter did. He then hatches a typical plan to dispatch the weasel once and for all.

Chuck gives Carter an ultimatum and a one-way plane ticket out of town - go to the wedding, tell Serena the truth and confront Bree's family (who he's made sure will be there) or take the ticket and split.

Which brings us to ...

THE WEDDING

Chuck and Blair argue over whether Carter is going to show up. He does! Then he tells Serena what he did. He had a huge gambling debt and met a rich girl named Beth who he knew could take care of that if he were going to marry her.

Carter got engaged to the girl, they planned a wedding, his debt was taken care of, and ... he skipped town. Serena is repulsed and doesn't trust him and storms off.

Bree confronts Carter along with a couple of her huge relatives. Carter says he'll meet them somewhere later but they can't do this here.

Rufus and Lily are just about to walk down the aisle at the garden when they have another fight and doubt whether they are ready.

The kids go to look for them and find out what's up. Scott finds them talking in private and is about to reveal who he is when ...

Georgina walks in and does it for him.

Yup, she outs Scott as their love child and nonchalantly walks away. Lily and Rufus are shocked but run off to find Scott, who had bolted.

Vanessa tells them that he takes the Chinatown bus to Boston and they track him down just before he gets on.

They have a tearful reunion in which he says he was so happy that his biological parents gave him up because they weren't ready years ago, not because they didn't love each other.

It's then that Rufus and Lily realize that they really do love each other and will be together forever. Scott boards the bus with an open invitation to return anytime. He's gone for now, but he's brought Rufus and Lily together for good.

The two get married in the loft with the lead singer from the Sonic Youth officiating. Just like they drew it up at the beginning of the day!

Nate talked to Blair and confronts Bree about using him to get to Carter. She says as much as she liked him, being a Buckley comes first.

Chuck tells Serena that while he loathes Carter, he risked a lot by telling her the truth, knowing Bree would be there. S puts together that the girl Carter conned was a Buckley. She calls to make sure he's okay.

Voicemail. Carter is in the back of a limo with Bree's huge cousins who are apparently taking him somewhere to settle the score.

As for Georgina, she got away unscathed, right? Wrong! Right before we fade to black, Dorota's doorman beau Vanya sidles up to her at a bar, under the guise that he is a prince from Belarus. Charmed, they leave together.

What do they have up their sleeve? Stay tuned!

Gossip Girl Season 3 Episode 5 Quotes

Chuck: Look, I love you, but just because Nate liking Bree doesn't make her a piranha. And Serena liking Carter doesn't make him a prince.
Blair: Where are you going? I have tension!

Chuck: Look ... I may loathe the guy, but he didn't have to own up to anything. I bought him a ticket out of town. He risked a lot, knowing Bree would be there. He must really care about you.
Serena: The girl he proposed to was a Buckley.
