Reid is unable to sleep because of nightmares recalling Delgado's death. The unsub, John Malone, has kidnapped a 16-year-old girl, Katie Hammond, and is holding her in the New York sewers. Rossi finally visits Reid in prison, but their conversation is cut short by a lockdown. The guards are searching for a drug shipment, which Reid is supposed to help move. Malone is drinking Katie's blood to mitigate a medical condition he has. The BAU finds more than two dozen women whose deaths have a similar M.O. Katie finds a ladder to a sewer grate and screams for help, but no one can hear her over the city's noise. Reid seems to be going along with the plan to move drugs within the prison. Katie starts to sympathize with Malone. Katie was going to visit her father when she was abducted. Malone explains he is a genetic mistake, who needs the right other person to survive. Malone lets Katie loose, to try to escape. Reid decides he's not going to move the drugs. Reid tells Shaw that he's the one pulling the strings inside. The BAU figures out that Malone has Katie underground, to protect himself from the sun. Reid tampers with the drugs. They find Malone's van parked over a grate to the sewers. Walker and JJ go down. Katie tries to attack JJ, then Malone knocks out Walker. Walker wakes up and keeps looking for Malone. Malone surprises him from behind and Walker spins and shoots him. Reid finds Malcolm dying on the floor, after trying the drugs which Reid tampered with. Soon Shaw is writhing in pain as well.
