Castle's not sleeping and Kate's worried. He's been having dreams that make him whimper in his sleep. The recurring dreams are about his missing two months. Beckett encourages him to see her therapist Dr. Burke. Burke uses hypnosis to help Castle get a better look at his dream. There’s a trophy he won in debate class and a man he knew as a boy in school. Someone gets shot. Then he’s being chased through the jungle by someone who is shooting at him. A Chuck Norris look alike saves him.
Dr. Burke helps Castle realize that the dreams started after he saw a man in the background of a newscast on TV. He was the blond man shooting at Castle in his dream. Beckett and the team track down his photo and find out that he’s Ilya Golovkin, a rogue Russian assassin for hire.
But when the assassin begins killing other people from Rick's dream, is it time to step back from this investigation and go back to his happy life with Beckett? Can Rick simply let those two months go and forget they existed?
