Castle season 4 begins just after Detective Kate Beckett was shot at Capt. Roy Montgomery at his funeral. After her boyfriend, Dr. Josh Davidson helps save her life, Kate spends the entire summer recuperating...alone leaving Richard Castle to pine away in his Soho loft. When Kate finally returns to the 12th precinct she's ready to mend fences and put all of her efforts into finding out who shot her.

Things don't go according to plan when the investigation stalls. Things become even more complicated when Beckett tells Castle she remembers nothing of her shooting (including his declaration of love) and Castle ends up going behind her back to keep her safe. Their personal relationship stalls despite the fact they are finally both single.

But their cases continue and are filled zombies, show dogs, a trip back to the 1940s, and a CIA agent who inspired one of Rick's previous characters, leaving Kate to wonder how many muses have their been.

Will Beckett heading to therapy help her take down her emotional walls and let Castle in or will his secret be too much for them to overcome? And when there's a break in her mom's murder case putting Beckett's life in danger once again, will it drive a wedge between the two or finally bring them together for good?
