Derek: You're gonna have a hard time saving that arm.
Mark: I can get it back to full function if I can get there in time. I'm thinking about buying a house.
Derek: Good for you. Meredith and I are gonna go to city hall this afternoon. (smiles) We're getting married.
Mark: Really?
Derek: Mmmm.
Mark: That's great news.
Derek: I know, and if I could just save Stevens...
Mark: And you're allowed to be happy. You're allowed to get married. You've earned that right. Congratulations you lucky bastard. Come here. Give me a hug. (they hug)
Meredith: Why is everyone hugging today?
Mark: Ah, the blushing bride. (Mer smiles)
Owen: Alright, here's the plan for our john doe. Shepherd, you evacuate the epidural. Grey and I'll correct the internal injuries, so that'll make room for Torres to place the internal fixator. Sloan, you should have enough time to work on the arm if the patient doesn't get too acidotic or hypothermic.
Meredith: Do you think he has a shot?
Owen: I've seen people come back from worse.

Bailey: Ah, not a good time.
Arizona: You know what, you walk away from me again I swear I will grab you by the hair and pull hard. I grew up with the name Arizona, I learned how to play dirty in the playground. I stuck my neck out for you, you were my pick.
Bailey: And I appreciate that, but it's a big decision.
Arizona: It's not, frankly. It's the brass ring. It's the most exclusive, the most competitive and we're as good as it gets. Nobody lands this thing and says no.
Bailey: My husband informed me that if I accept the peds fellowship, if I sign on for another 2 years of training, and the hours and the work load that come with it when I could be a general surgery attending, and make it home for dinner. He will divorce me. It's a big decision.

Meredith: Amanda, you can't be out here
Amanda: Would you wanna be all alone at a time like this? We had 30 seconds of interaction before he saved my life, and I wasn't even nice. I was standing on a corner when this ordinary looking guy stands next to me and smiles, and I'm so busy scoping for someone hotter that I don't even give him a second look. The next thing I know, he throws me out of the way of a bus I'm about to walk in front of, and almost gets himself killed. He literally, he swept me off my feet. That is my prince in that bed.
Meredith: Ok, you can stay until they take him to surgery.

Meredith: Hey there, I know this must be scary. But, if it's any consolation you're a hardcore hero. You saved that woman's life. (john doe grabs Mer's hand and tries to write something) Is he trying to write something? (tries to give him a pen) Can you hold this? (he's too weak. Mer grabs his hand) Ok, you'll be stronger tomorrow.
Owen: Call OR 1, tell them to get ready for him.
Meredith: Ok.

Cristina: Are you gonna chew?
Meredith: Mmmm... my dragged under the bus guy's in angio. They're gonna page me any minute. How's Izzie? Is she retaining anything?
Alex: No.
Bailey: Ok, at 6pm your idiotic colleague George O'Malley will finish his surgery with the Chief.
Callie: And, at 6pm you will be standing beside us in the OR hallway, prepared to join in an intervention.
Bailey: What polite company might like to call an intervention. Though, I'm not sure interventions involve whooping people on the behind. With a belt.
Alex: What, he's got a drinking problem now?
Meredith: He joined the army.
Cristina: What?
Alex: 007? He can't go to the army. He's the guy that gets killed.
Cristina: He's the guy that gets killed cleaning his own gun
Bailey: Grey, is going to coax him back as a loving friend. (to Cristina) You are going to use logic, and reason to point out the idiocy of his ways. Stevens will make sad cancer eyes. And, if all of that doesn't work, Karev, you're gonna pull out your... I was raised out back with the trash cans roots, and just beat the crap out of him.
Alex: 6 o'clock.
Callie: 6'o'clock.

Arizona: Maybe we're bouncier in ped's, than in general surgery. But I thought there would be a yay! Or some jumping around. 'Cause you look pretty dower for someone whose about to start a highly prized fellowship. You are about to start a highly prized fellowship right?
Callie: Hey, I've got a plan to stop George, you in?
Arizona: Stop George from what?
Bailey: Ah, he joined the army. Yes. I'm in.
Arizona: Bailey, I'm talking to you! Why are you trying to stop him?
Callie: Because he joined the army.
Arizona: And?
Callie: And, because he's my ex husband, and I know his mom and I love his mom. And, normally Izzie would talk sense into him but, she's got cancer, and kind of a bad mental deficit. So, it's on me to stop him.
Arizona: Why would you wanna stop him?
Callie: Because he joined the army. Don't you think that's a problem?
Arizona: I think that's awesome.
Callie: Awesome?

Bailey: What did you do to O'Malley?
Owen: Excuse me?
Bailey: Ah, somebody else around here likely to convince someone to join the army, and be a trauma surgeon in Iraq?
Callie: What?
Meredith: The army?
Callie: What?
Meredith: De fib
Owen: Charge the paddles to 360
Bailey: Owen, you have to call and undo this.
Owen: Bailey, little busy here.
Meredith: Clear
Callie: George... George O'Malley!
Owen: It wasn't my idea
Meredith: No change
Owen: Charge again.
Meredith: Clear
Owen: Look, I did what I could to give him a decent education in trauma. I didn't know he was gonna go and enlist.
Meredith: He keeps coding.
Callie: There's Y open book pelvic fractures.
Owen: There's too much bleeding. If we take him to an OR now he'll die on the table.
Callie: He needs to go to angio if we're gonna stop the pelvic arterial bleeding.
Meredith: Sinus tac, we have a rhythm. Barely there, but it's there.
Owen: Let's stabilize the pelvis
Bailey: Look, I know what goes on in this hospital. I know you're messed up from that war and not in a small way. Get him out of it!
Callie: Page me if you need me. I've got other pages.
Mark: How did you piss off all the women?
Owen: Ah, lets get this guy an angio
Meredith: Angio? He's barely got a pulse.
Owen: It's now or never if we want him to live. Alright, lets move. Sir, i know it's really touch, but I'd personally be really grateful if you'd try and stay alive for the next few minutes.

Mark: Woah.
Callie: Man versus bus.
Mark: Bus won.
Callie: Check out the left arm.
Meredith: He's crashing again.
Derek: What have we got?
Mark: We've got road kill.
Owen: Do you mind. He stepped out in front of a moving bus so could save a woman, he's a hero.
Callie: Can you fix the arm?
Mark: His fingers are already blue, if it's gonna happen... it's gotta happen in the next few hours.
Derek: Pupils blown, stop CPR. Ok, give me a cranial drill please. Grey, wanna practice your burr holes? (Mer nods her head) Stabilize his neck please. 10 blade. Take the drill. Ok, go in slowly, and when you feel it grab stop. Because otherwise you're gonna be hitting the brain. Ok, lets go, quickly.
Owen: Nice work Dr. Grey.
Mark: I'm gonna go get some bassi trays for that face.
Derek: Get his head rotated. Easy.
Meredith: Welcome back Sir, you had us worried there for a minute.

Alex: She's like the woman who couldn't remember her husband was dead. We had to keep telling her every 5 minutes.
Derek: It's a perfectly normal post operative haze.
Alex: Or, the bleeding during the procedure blitzed her short term retention. Did you screw up her brain?
Derek: Karev, I'll be back. Try and stay calm. Freaking her out is not gonna help. (Der walks away)
Alex: Wake up.

Izzie: Did you get the whole thing? Did you get the whole tumor out?
Derek: Just let me finish my exam. Can you tell me your name?
Izzie: My name is Isobel Stevens, it's 2009, and I'm in the neuro ICU at Seattle Grace hospital. Did you get the damn thing out?
Derek: Go the whole damn thing.
Izzie: Oh, you got it?
Derek: Yeah.
Izzie: Oh god, you go the whole thing. And I can talk, and I know my name, and I'm not a turnip.
Alex: Nope.
Izzie: No offense.
Derek: No.
Izzie: You are a great surgeon, but I really thought I was gonna be a turnip. This is so unbelievably great.
Cristina: Your kidneys are a little sluggish, so we're just gonna keep and eye on your electrolytes for a few hours. Your post op CRIT was fine.
Izzie: Ok, good. Good. How did the surgery go? Did you get the brain tumor? Did you get it out?
Alex: Iz, you just asked him that. We just talked about it.
Derek: No, no it's ok. She's gonna be foggy for a while. The tumor's out. There was a little bleeding during the post.
Izzie: You got it?
Derek: Yeah.
Izzie: All of it?
Derek: Mhmmm.
Izzie: That's amazing. Derek Shepherd, you are a hero. And I know that that's Derek Shepherd, and you're Alex, and you should kiss me. Alex, I don't have a brain tumor. I'm tumor free.
Alex: Yes you are.
Izzie: What's wrong? Why do you look weird?
Cristina: Oh, nothing. Nothing. Your kidneys are a little slow, we're just gonna watch them.
Izzie: Ok, so you'll just re-check my electrolytes in an hour?
Cristina: Mhmmm.
Izzie: Ok... How did the surgery go? Did you get the tumor?
Derek: We did. Tumors gone. There was a little bit of bleeding, but we took care of that.
Izzie: You got it?
Derek: Mhmmm.
Izzie: Oh my god. And I can talk, and you didn't kill me. What's wrong with you people, we should be celebrating.

Cristina: You know somethings going on with George.
Meredith: What?
Cristina: Owen hugged him. They were happy.
Meredith: Well, we don't hug when we're happy.
Cristina: Are you better?
Meredith: What?
Cristina: You know, with your therapy? Or... whatever. You said you got well. Well, are you... better? Or are you just fake better?
Meredith: What do you mean?
Cristina: I'm asking you if people... you know. I mean, are you actually different? I mean do you feel different?
Meredith: I'm getting married today. (smiles) Mmmm... it's a deal. No muss, no fuss. Just quick and dirty.
Cristina: (dumbfounded) Ah, do you want me to come?
Meredith: No, no. Just letting you know.
Cristina: Oh no, wait. Ah, ok. This is my grocery list. It's old. This (hand Mer blue post it's) this is new. This is my favorite pen, which is why i want it back. Borrowed. And, all of it's blue. So, you're covered.
Meredith: Now, see if we were George and Owen we would hug right now. (Mer looks at Cris, then shakes her head, they both go back to work)

George: Dr. Bailey, I need to tell you something.
Bailey: Not now O'Malley.
George: No, it'll be quick 'cause I gotta get to the OR to scrub in with the Chief. I think you're gonna be mad at first, but I'm about to do something important. And, I'm very sure about this decision. And, I think eventually you're gonna be proud. But you know, before that you're probably gonna be like "What did you do!" I'm... I don't mean to imitate you.
Bailey: You call that quick?
George: I joined the Army to be a trauma surgeon, I report for duty tomorrow.
Bailey: YOU DID WHAT?
George: Yeah, thats where I thought we'd start.

Grey's Anatomy Season 5 Episode 24 Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)
