He's a blast after five drinks, not so much after nine though; he gets a little weepy and mean. He's a drunk, Meredith. He probably came in and told you how wonderful you are. How sad he is he doesn't get to spend more time with you. You know, yesterday he told me I was his favorite daughter. The day before, I was an ungrateful bitch. The week before, he wrote me a check for $20,000 because he said I deserved everything life had to offer, because he was so proud of me, a lifetime's worth of proud. So thank you for letting me know that I need to keep a better eye on him. Thanks.

CRISTINA: [to Mer, but everyone hears] "Are you pregnant?"

Cristina: Are you sure?
Meredith: Take the surgery. Makes you feel better and you start to regain strength. [leaves]
Alex: I saw the whole thing, Yang. You can stop pretending.
Cristina: Oh I'm not pretending. I'm sad. I'm very sad. Me so sad!
Alex: Yes, you tried.
Cristina: Hey, forget it. Sad is mine. Go, find your own pretend-emotion.
Meredith: So, I got Alex to cover for me so I can leave right after I round on my patients. 48 uninterrupted hours!
Derek: Yeah yeah... um... you know, maybe this is not a good weekend.
Meredith: What did Lexie say about me?
Derek: She didn't say anything. I did all the talking. Oh, don't blame her.
Meredith: So what, you're friends with my sister now? I mean, you talked to the other Grey about me?
Derek: You know what I talked about with the other Grey? All the things this Grey won't let me say.
Meredith: You can say anything to me.
IZZIE: "You want us to make her seize? How do we make someone have a seizure?"
DEREK: "Get creative. Do some research."
GEORGE: "Well, if all the normal methods have failed then what are we supposed to do-"
DEREK: "Use a strobe light. Get her drunk. Hang her up upside down from the ceiling and hit her with a wiffle ball bat, for all I care. Just make her seize. 'Cause until she seizes, I don't know when to operate, and if I don't know when to operate, I can't get this woman out of my life. And this woman is not how I like to start my mornings."
MEREDITH: "You brought Izzie food?"
FINN: "Yes."
MEREDITH: "Why?"
FINN: "Because when Liz, my wife, died, there was nothing anyone could say to make me feel better. But the bringing of food... that actually helped."
MEREDITH: "You brought Izzie food!"
Ever since David died, I had this thought, what if I got to the hospital in time to operate I could've saved him. Now it's like he's here, and I can't even be in the same room with him without feeling like I'm drowning. It's like I'm holding onto a lie.
[narrating] Doctors give patients a number of thing. We give them medicine, we give them advice and, most of the time, we give them our undivided attention. But, by far, the hardest thing you can give a patient is the truth. The truth is hard. The truth is awkward and very often the truth hurts. I mean, people think they want the truth. But do they really?
