Meredith and Alex have developed a close bond over the years, and now they're the last two remaining from their group in the beginning. They have seen each other through some of the most devastating tragedies and greatest triumphs.
It's time for the newest batch of interns to show what they can do. Can this new attractive intern be the stand out? Will he be a Yang or a 007? Will he make it to the end, die off along the way, or vanish before leaving a mark?
Meredith is reminded of her journey. She has multiple groundbreaking surgeries under her belt. She's been a part of research studies. She generated press after saving a man on a plane. She did an unheard of abdominal transplant, and now she's up for a Harper Avery and other recognition.
Alex has had quite the journey on Grey's Anatomy as well. He went from an abrasive jerk to a loyal friend, dedicated doctor, and master of his field. He attracted the crazy, saw Izzie through cancer before being abandoned, and now he's happy with Jo.
It has been a long road for Meredith Grey. She climbed the professional ranks, starting as an intern with four other close friends, and now she's a world-renowned, innovative surgeon and Chief of General Surgery well on her way to receiving a Harper Avery. It's just her and Alex remaining, but the MAGIC is still there.
MEREDITH: "You don't get to call me a whore. When I met you, I thought I had found the person that I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I was done! All the boys and all the bars and all the obvious daddy issues, who cares? I was done. You left me. You chose Addison. I'm all glued back together now. I make no apologies for how I chose to repair what you broke. You don't get to call me a whore." DEREK: "This thing with us is finished. It's over." MEREDITH: "Finally." DEREK: "Yeah, it's done." MEREDITH: "It is done."
Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."
