  2. Angel, while insane, killed him in the end of S8 by snapping his neck in similar fashion on how Angelus killed Jenny, leading to Buffy ending the world. Everyone not named Faith now has a generally quite strong "Fuck You" attitude towards Angel

Was it because of budget that both BtVS and ATS lacked blood and gore effects?

  5. Was it because of budget that both BtVS and ATS lacked blood and gore effects? The first two seasons of BTVS had it toned down because of ratings restrictions(to the point that Whedon had to cut out all the neck-snappage and make it offscreen).

Since S3 the show has been far more liberal and both shows had a fair amount of squicky gory stuff, thank you.

Ok let me rephrase. Why is it that there is a realistic lack of gore and blood effects? By realistic i mean, that in BtVS it's like people only have half a liter of blood in their bodies. . .

  9. Oh I don't know, IMO it has been realistic enough. People DO NOT bleed galons of blood from simple stab wounds - that's hollywood. As long as one avoids major veins/arteries, there's barelly any real outside bleeding.

Of course IF one compares it to shit like TVD or True Blood, who take the quantity-over-quality approach and try to be all edgy and dark by throwing galons of red paint upon character, then it looks "not realistic enough".

IMO, BTVS had too much of realism sometimes. I could certainly do without seeing Angel get stabbed in the neck or someone getting his eye poked out.

Well for instance(this might ofcause just be those nitpicking continuity mistakes) where something gets stabbed for something with a sword, and no blood is on the sword or anywhere.

The reason i started thinking about it in the first place is, that in ATS S2 finale on Pylia, the priest dude blows up the head of the "cow"(human). No blood splatter at all. You see some brownish/beige thing in the air, but littaraly no blood no where. His head got blown off for christ sake. Their should have been a fountain of blood from his arterie just spewing blood like a hydrant. No one even gets blood on their clothes.

Then the other thing. This has always bugged me but never a lot. Whenever someone is bitten by a vampire their ain't never any blood. Yes the vampires "drain" people for blood, but again, when they drink they puncture the arterie and no blood slips out.

It might not seem like a big issue, but things like this takes me a bit out of the movie/show whatever. It's like in Star Wars prequel. The 3rd one. The robotic lizard waves his 4 lightsaber like an inch away from Obi Wans face. Evan McGregor just stand there and does move at all. Because on set, he is most likely just facing a green or blue patch of wall, not knowing how to react in that exact second.
