I am new to the fandom and tvd and I thought I would be happy about changes in the show .you know what I am not! I don't ship the main trio and none of them are on my list of Favourite chracters!Elena just made me go die die die !I hate the way she just admitted to Stefan her feelings for Damon magnified where as her feelings for Stefan lessened ! What happens to its always gonna be Stefan wasn't she planning forever with him ? What do you think guys ?to be honest I don't think I will be watching tvd again .I don't think I can Handel: Delena, klaroline,Hailey and Tylor, that April chick and Stefan and his diary!!my fave is Katherine and she is just a hallucination and it really hurts!

I obviously ship SE so I wasn't really pleased at that episode/scene. After they spent S3 apart they got back together only for them to breakup +5 episodes later. So I was like wtf was the whole point here Plec? I'm glad though that Stefan couldn't put up with the shit any longer. Well I'm not sure where Plec and co plan to take that storyline and what will eventually come out of it but I can't hide my disdain at how Elena's transition has played out. Given that, even the dark Elena still remains boring and bland as ever. I thought they were gonna make her a more smart, more wiser and mature. But No, she still needs the Salvatores petting her, her in house witch Bonnie to fix things and more people to die for her. Meanwhile, I see them mirroring S2 about ressurecting some immortal warlock Silas like they did with Klaus and the moonstone. And a tattoo/map which will require for them to bring in more pointless characters for Jeremy to kill I suppose. And at this point, no huge storyline would make us care an inkling about Jeremy, it's too late. Not to mention no one was even moved when the Chris character dies except Tyler (the part where we had to pretend Tyler deeply cared about the guy). Sir Cardboard Donovan did put in his two cents in the epi but he's become white noise and just so forgettable smh.

@op

The general problem on why such all those "pairings" "breakups" etc made me personally feel nothing for last three seasons and made me qit the show, is completely horrible execution and writing of it all. There's no cause and effect - "some random stuff happens", then "Some other random stuff happens" then everyone forgets it all and repeats the same patterns again and again as some other random stuff happens that is completely irrelevant.

I shipped DE in S! and forwood in S2, but otherwise felt absolutely nothing for majority of characters(okay Isobel was fucking awesome hbic and Lexie was decent in her first appearance, but otherwise...)

VERY rarely do the actions of characters make actual fucking sense, to the point that entire cast comes off as a bunch of sociopaths incapable of comprehending consequences, morality of their actions, nor being able to proccess mental stress.  The entire cast has been stuck in the same loop and pattern for last 3 seasons and I doubt it will ever change - the second to last episode SE will break up, Elena(who will continue being pointless and boring character) will walk around with Damon doing absolutely nothing and then SE will get a happy ending as bonnie does some asspull spell to make everyone human again or something, together with whole bunch of other nonsense.

Once that became clear, I just saw no reason to stick with this trainwreck.

I can't even describe the whole cure thing arc Elena seems OK being a vamp.good for Stefan to finally decide to let her go .I like Tylor is the only one mourning for his friend even my second fav Caroline sucked The big bonnie SL sucks that useless April chick is getting more screen time than her! They could never make matt interesting and the Jeremy SL is not interesting !he was never a supernatural *bonnie gave him that when she brought him back from death* nothing make sense and yeah I already bummed out about the whole thing ):

Since Elena's feelings for Damon have been 'magnified' I aslo thought the undying love she felt for Stef would be magnified also. Seems they have magnified one part to progress the 'triangle'

@BoredNow, well I hope this is the last season. It's pretty obvious they have run out of new things to say and do. And they keep recycling everything. Not to mention they keep pulling new characters out of their asses to advance a story and kill them off sooner than later.

So what is Klaus storyline this season btw? It's pretty obvious that the hybrids are useless seeing that they can be killed quite easily. Furthermore I dnt get it why he needs the hybrid army, seeing that he spent centuries doing fine without them even just as a vampire. And he rarely stays with the hybrids in his home. Dude enjoys painting more than making hybrids. And we can't pin point him as villain either, he's just a selfish guy basically.

well I hope this is the last season. It's pretty obvious they have run out of new things to say and do.

Sadly, they will most likely do few more seasons. Fifth for sure, since they need to reach the episode count required for syndication so CW can whore out the show air rights to warrious cable channels and stuff.

It was obvious they are running in circles ever since S2 to be honest, but it became blatantly clear in S3 when they started to push Klaus as villain aside in same fashion they did with Katherine and went all again "hey guyse, there's something even worse out there *wink wink* *nudge nudge* be hyped be very hyped and look how those characters go search for ANOTHER magical stone stuff to solve their problems"

The show hypes up some idea, then writers write themselves into a corner so they have to resort to completely outlandish asspull magic twiststo get out of it. And then the writers FORGET the ideas they have been hyping and start  new hype train, which leads them writing themselves into a  corner again

By MId S3, imo, they completely stopped even trying to do anything with the plot or characters. They kept throwing random repeats of old plot twists just reskinned with new names and faces(how many Uncle Johns we had now?) writing every episode according to guidelines possibly akin to this : "in this episode something happens to someone, which is all about Elena/Elenalovetriangle, no matter how nonsnesical that sounds, even if it makes no fucking sense"

Now, repetition of plot ideas is NOT necessarily bad. You can execute it well and if one as a writer pays enough attention to characters and develops them through it all, then oh well - character driven shows rely on characters REACTING to the plotlines and developing, thus even if a similar plot happens, characters are bound to react differently...

The problem with TVD however is that it NEVER was a character-driven show, it has always been "oh look at our twists" kind of popcorn since writers never really cared on creating any sort of deeper character introspection even when the show was good/awesome.  It just had a good and relatively unspoiled supporting cast for viewers to overlook the simplistic basic nature of the show. However as we all know, TVD is simply incapable of retaining what makes each character who she/he is, nor giving them a sensible character progression.

In the end, everything, even character interactions, ends up feeling simply fake, no matter chemistry and all that other fluff. .

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Damon

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.
