actually Elena was really pretty in s1.it wasn't so hard to believe that Elena was the popular gorgeous girl in school. her make-up was a lot more visible,her hair was bouncy and her clothes were good too,it felt like she had tried to tone it down cause she was in mourning.
in s2 her look was okay i guess, but she didn't look gr8 or anything.come s3 and omg everything from her personality to her look sucked.i know her life is a waking nightmare but what did she do?/throw out all her clothes??beacuse it seemed to me like she was repeating the same 3 t-shirts throughout the s3.forget about caroline,even bonnie has better wardrobe.and don't even get me started about her hair.it is sooo dull and limp and lifeless...i just can't stand it.

You know, if you watch s1 and s2 closely, Elena actually looked like a pretty girl, at least she attemped doing her hair and her make-up was good.

S1 Elena looked like someone who "Used to be" a queen bee of school but then got both parents killed and was trying to tone it all down, including her own behavior, to feel less guilty about what happened.
In S2 however writers apparantly decided that Elena REALLY IS this perfect caring messiah that she only pretended to be in S1....

that's the thing mildly likeable doesnt get on my attention's radar, hence why she was non existent. it's either she was interesting which she isnt, even serena van whoresen had an interestng life than her

As a lead character she's not impacting that much of the viewer's attention, which is pretty bad. Even at s1 my own partner who never watches the show thought Caroline was the lead character lol

my point is she was better than the mary sue elena is now.but you are right..i was pretty indifferent to her too.
lol.even i liked caroline in s1.a lot of people called her annoying due to her insecurities and shallowness but i found her insecurities to be perfectly justified.negligent mother,absentee father add to that mix all the rape and abuse.with the kind of treatment she recieved from her own friends and boyfriend,anyone would be insecure.matt put her down a lot of times too,thats why i couldn't ship them.imo she had a lot of growth in s1 itself.i mean with every episode u could see her maturing a little bit.

ATM i dont think anyone would really care even if elena died lol.almost everyone watches this show just for stefan/damon/klaus/caroline.everyone else is irrelevant lol.
