     Meh, I am beginning to sadly agree with Plec's thought that viewers would nto be able to handle book-Elena, considering fandom seems to hate Elena because she is selfish and NOT because she is "caring" stupid mary sue with no character.

     I been watching since  seaosn 1 ,  i  always liked elana ,   but now omg ,  when  klaus first came into the show , i was like omg they need kill him hes a  dick ,  now i want  klaus to ripp elana`s heart out and  eat it , I hope silas resurects Kol and all other originals , Then Kol can  beat  elana to death with jeremy`s arm ,  Then they all leave  and go onto the original`s

     PRECH   And as for your period Kitty,   We wouldnt mind the selifshness and the bitchiness of that mary-sue whore if she was really written better and developed a bit like Caroline. Her selfishness is rooted from her hypocrisy and her cravings for more Salvatore-cock.

     Which would be perfectly fine and GREAT characterization  if it was written correctly. 

     So yet, again. Elena's problem is NOT that she is a hyprocite. Hypocrites are awesome characters to explore...if they are written correctly or well, WRITTEN. 

     Elena's problem is not that she is selfish or an idiot. Those are also great flaws for characterization...if they are written correctly or well, WRITTEN.  

      If Elena was actually WRITTEN as a selfish hypocrite who says one thing but clearly disregards it because of her obsession, it would be GOOD writing. Hell I'd actually still most likely be with the show because that would make her INTERESTING. 

     Let her screw up, be two-faced, be called out on her hypocrisy, disregard human lives etc for her obsession, etc. That's good. that's interesting. But actually ACKNOWLEDGE IT HAPPENING and handle it within the show. TVD never did that, sadly. 

      

      

     the problem is that while she comes off that way, the writing does NOT treat her that way, making the real world logic viewpoint to her character moot in-universe.

     I like selfish, egoistic flawed people. because, I mean, seriously, hello, this is me~ remember the shows I follow?

     1. In one a borderline sociopath girl is ruining lives of everyone around her for revenge,
     2. in another a borderline psychopath dude is shooting people with arrows for the same reason
     3. And my guilty pleasure show? Is about someone who has sex every day with a different character(including threesomes), flirted with every single cast member including her own mother(with whom she made out with), just because she found them pretty. Oh and she now started killing people for the lulz because they taste good.(and the rest of the cast is just as colorful)

     And then you have my alltime favorite shows like BTVS/ATS, Dollhouse, BSG and so on, which EACH of them is filled with morally bankrupt screw up people. 

     WHy? because I love that shit.

     IF Elena was actually WRITTEN the way she seems  to BE when logically looking at her actions(selfish hypocritical egoist who sugarcoats everything in the self-sacrifice tirade to feel better about the shit she does), I would actually like her character.
