GROWING PAINS Thread!!!
Sooooooooooooo. The moment of truth. Major talking points anyone? Let me start:
1. Damon speaks the truth when he asked Matt "In what world are you the one that gets to live". SO FUCKING TRUE. Should have drained him dry on the knock off Persian rug. Then he has the nerve to go depressed and sulking after his other dimwitted half (Elena...who else) saved him. "Just kill me, you couldn't possibly hate me more than i hate myself". "OH BUT I CAN". So i thought, so Damon said. Then he goes off on Stefan saying he should have left him to die........................BEST THING HE EVER SAID!!!!!! Worse thing Stefan never did.
LOL. When Rebecca asked Damon whether Matt had insurance. LMFAO!!!! Luving that gurl more and more.
2. Fix it Bonnie and the effed up "consequence". Who else feels slightly put out by the so called consequence or lack there of from the other side? P.S. Plec, her grams is already dead. Why "hurt" a dead woman to make a living one suffer? Can't think of anything more creative? What am i asking, ofcourse you can't. Bonnie has finally run headlong into a barrier that even she can't fix (about time). But if all the spirits are gonna do is punish her dead grams, i say go for it B.
Absolutely loved it when grams told her that Elena wasn't her responsibility (second best line in the epi).
3. Klaus needs to go. I'm getting sick and tired of his pussy attitude towards his siblings. SERIOUSLY DUDE??? You save a chick you're INFATUATED with instead of your sis??? I mean i know she can't be killed by them but still.....THATS FUCKED UP! Not to mention the fact that AGAIN we see an absurd choice than never had to be made but was made anyway for dramatic effect and force feeding Klaroline shippers more garbage. WHY COUDN'T HE SAVE BOTH??? Even if he coudn't carry both at the same time (which is ridiculously convenient) he still has super speed. Couldn't he put Car in the bushes by the roadside and save Becca in 5 seconds tops? The ending with them was like the 3rd time he's turned his back on her. Becca needs to wise up and let him go rott, he obviously does not see the value in family....fine as he may be.
God that epi was soft but had some great one liners. Best line in the epi IMO goes to Becca in the cell speaking to Elena "I'd say you have less than 3 hrs to live before I get to watch you die all over again. My day just got a whole lot better." What did i say about luving her. The only chacacter who points out Elena's short comings without any regrets.
Le sigh. These quotes. They would fool anyone into beieving that i'd just watched an epic epi. On the contrary, this was such a letdown for the first episode of the season. Don't know why i even bothered to watch. Clearly the plot has just shifted from "spending all our screentime saving human Elena" to "spending all our screentime saving vampire Elena"......Anyone else see a pattern?
This episode wasn't the best, but I thought it was better than alot of the latter of season 3. The episode felt very rushed and maybe too fast-paced, especially against last season's great premiere.
Totally agree on the Rebekah front. She is the absolute best. Claire Holt s amazing. Totally agree about Klaus as well. They didn't need to keep him in the show just for fans. IMO this season seems as if it could do alot better wiith this new and improved council than they ever could do and will do with Klaus. Trevino did impress with Klaus though.
Enjoyed Damon a lot more than I thought I would. Didn't realised how much I missed season 1 Damon until I watched this episode. Don't have much too say on Stefan/Elena. Don't particularly love TVD's romantic scenes. Sweet, I guess.
I absolutely loved the Bonnie parts, but I've always had a soft spot for her. I don't think her Grams re-dying was the real consequence, I think that's still coming. Kat Graham seemed rejuvenated somehow. Don't know how, but something was definitely better.
Good episode. Seen better. Definitely seen worse. Excited for this season. Glad the main triangle is nipped in the bud for now.
P.S Like to point out that almost everyone on the forum predicted that Elena would feed on Pastor Young. Clearly TVD hasn't become as predictable as everyone thought. Although there we're a lot of other predictable moments during the 40 min.
I thought this episode was good-ish!
My problem was, like you mentioned, the fact that we all knew Elena would transition made some of the scenes less dramatic, but they had to obviously atleast attempt some sort of suspense. Nina did a good job though! Im glad she stuck with her choice and there was no "Im confused crap!" (im not a DE or SE fan, I just want her to pick one and end the whole triangle thingy, but Im sure it will be back in no time sigh)
What I absolutely loved the most was Rebekah! Amazing acting by Claire Holt, especially in the last scene with Klaus! Looking forward to seeing a new kind of Becks, on her own and not under the sway of her rage-a-holic bro!
I also liked Trevino's portrayal of Klaus. Plus although I liked the fact Klaus is his evil self again (cuz Jomo is just *swoons*) only semi-glad he is back cuz his character has been along for a while and Im sure many people are tired of seeing him!
Bonnie scenes are making this show so repetitive! Always some spell/ Witchy Workaround, give the girl a story, less witchy and more human! plus Jeremy being with her just brought back all the season 2 stuff and we don't need to see that all over again!
And yes the Grams being tortured thingy I hated! they should have learned by now not to get into the same "Other Side" mess they made last season! Enough with the Spirits/Dead Witches/Ghosts please!
I didn't get the Council thingy at the end???! Will someone explain what that was all about (assuming they are not as clueless as I am)
The council thingy at the end is one of two thing. Its either Pastor Idiot was compelled to kill all the council members along with himself or he is working with some sort of supernatural towards another end. He did say that "we are the beginning" or something like that. However, the second theory goes against what the council believes in so my money is on him being compelled.
@Flora. Stop all this Matt loving. Its making me itchy. I will confess that the Damon hate at the beginning was ok because Damon needed to vent his frustration somehow, but he went overboard at the end when he kicked him and stepped on his chest. Stefan's words for him at the end though were thoroughly justified. He does need to earn his secnd chance at life instead of moping around at waht has already been done.
@ everyone in the comments section saying that they like the "season 1 Damon" and they're glad he's back. WHERE IS HE EXACTLY? I didn't see heads or tails of him in this epi. Same old moping and depressingly "dumbed" badboy attitude he's been wearing since season 2.
So wait, wait, wait. now I have not seent his shitty episode and don't even plan to, but apparantly I was right? Elena yet again was a background decoration and the shit-fest of the last season continues? Yay. Gods I am so happy to have left that trainwreck.
