@Bored Now. Yes, I agree on that point. But I like that the writers came with this accident and made the lead ch

aracter NOT wanting to commit suicide, and actually cool with her crappy life unlike drama-queens that lead the other million shows of this kind. This said, what made me fall for this show is the way the writers keep perfect balance between exaggerated realism and comedy. The characters are relatabale, evolve in way that makes you care about every single one of them (even the mean girl, which is by the way not a perfect skinny bitch but only an overweight rich girl who's popular because she can afford it, +1 for that :] )

Like every other woman on the planet, we just love the bad boys like Matty don't we? lol Well, as for me, I really like Jakenna. For the first time in my life, my heart roots for the sweet, gold-hearted one :3

lol same,Jake was perfect for her but alas she chose matty *sigh*

i can see jenna ending the series single tho,she didn't seem all that content with matty lol

I actually felt that it takes away from the show hence why I dropped it. It felt like a sitcom/comedy-show  with premise there just for pure reason so that  the show could exist.

This said, what made me fall for this show is the way the writers keep perfect balance between exaggerated realism and comedy.

Did not feel that way. I saw a show that is unable to decide what it wants to be - does it want to be a bit satyrical comedy? a sitcom? A serious psychological analysis of social interactions? The show never settled in into either of those roles, nor connected them and the end result wa just something...derivative .

. The characters are relatabale, evolve in way that makes you care about every single one of them

Maybe that was my problem, since I found zero real relatability in that show. Everything was too clean, too steoretypical(the main reason why Glee sucks too, alongside the usual bad writing of Glee), I guess, characters felt way too...sitcom-y?

It not a bad show by all means, but its more like the rest of MTV pedigree - a standard a bit cliched derivative teen show with nothing that really sets it apart from the likes of it.

And let's be frank, that genre focusing on comical satyre of social interactions has already been pretty much perfected by Mean Girls and the whole trope-subversion teenager-highschool-stereotype-exploration-and-parodying was already done to death in far better quality by Veronica Mars.

There's just nothing to separate Awkward from dozens of other shows with similar ideas, well, barring suicide idea, which, as you yourself said, in the end, doesn't even matter.

I really hate it when they use accidents as plot device to make up storylines, it's such lazy writing don't you think? It's like using bonnie to resolve plots, lol did I just go there? lol

It depends. Veronica Mars was pretty much driven by three series of accidents and events directly connected to the lead heroine and the show was fucking perfect still. Quite a few storylines in Buffy and ATS relied on aftermath, decisions and consequences after some VERY big tragic event too.

Its all okay when such events are used to develop characters and make characters react to it. The bad case of it is using accidents or tragic events to directly push storyline and then forget about it ever happening.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Damon

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.
