The Grandfather (Season 2)
thanks chair 4ever =], I think you're right about the whole comfort zone thing. Though I can't see why, Nate did cheat on her with her best friend, if I was Blair I would not feel at all comfortable around him. Even if they were together, part of her would always know worry that he may stray. At least I would if I was her, but Nate sort of makes the girls on this show do crazy things.
Speaking of comfort zones though, was anyone else picking up a Dan/Vanessa vibe? I don't know why, but I have a feeling those two may thrown together with both of them having issue in their love life. It wouldn't be hard for the writers to take the cliched pair the best friends together story line. and I think they end up together in the books, don't they? not sure that it matters, but i think the writers are playing with most of the pairings from the books.
Firstly, OMFG Nate and Blair. I mean okay, I read the spoilers, know of everything thats to come but still; to see a NAIR reunion, im EXTATIC! But dont let my excitement fool you ladies and gentlemen; I am and always will be a CHAIR fan.
Now, as much as I'd love to see all the crazy escapades both Nate and Blair will do, I just cant have CHUCK and VANESSA, a duo I hope never actually get togehter, hook up on screen. SORRY, CHUNESSA DOESN'T WORK.
So atm, I'm praying these unholy unions END after next weeks episode.
until next week, oxo
Best episode of Season 2 so far for me (which isn't saying too much considering what we've had lately). I thought last week's episode used the music amazingly well for the ending, with the opera swelling and hitting major chords when Chuck walked into Blair's, like some kind of hero. And then hitting its crescendo when Carter walked in to see B. Is it weird that I wish he stuck around longer?
But the music ending this episode was epic also. Everything was probably more epic for those who didn't spoiler the hello kitty out of themselves, but the end where Chuck sees something and the music starts: intense. And then B comes out of her bathroom where you think she's alone, then you see a sleeve and think it's Carter, and then BAM! Blate action. Brilliant.
I also like how they made Vanessa and Blair wear identical outfits (except B looked better, as always). It's sort of Nate choosing between his teenage rebellion (always trying to date as far from UES snobbery as possible: first S, then a degree away to Jenny, then even further to V) and the live set for him (Blair). And who doesn't pick Blair?
I don't think Nate stays in Blair's room when she asks though. I think he leaves for the night, saying he should get home, but not before Chuck has all these ideas in his head. Then Chuck gets Vanessa in on a scheme, and that makes Nate and Blair jealous and get together as a result.
Luckily for us, we know that Vuck (yes, I made that up) garbage is just for show. Probably pushing B and Nate closer, I bet that's what gets them to kiss in the first place.
I could go on but this is long enough already; perhaps I should start my own epi blog...
Abridged version: I really loved this episode, best yet of the season in my opinion.
Loooove it! Nate and Blair should get back together. They are perfect for each other, Chuck only brings the worst in Blair, plus Nate and Vanessa...it's too Austensian.
The lood on Blair's face when Carter talks back to Chuck about the Gentleman's Club and El is priceless. It's almost as if, oh so that's what you've been doing well well
Dear Georgie - the video is one fan's dream of what should have happened. IT IS NOT REAL! It even says so in the description, though less clearly than it once did. Sadly, Chuck has yet to say ILY for real on Gossip Girl ... though there is a spoiler on the horizon...
WATCH THIS NOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW
THIS IS FOR ALL THE CHAIR FANS!!!!!!!!!!!#
"a", it really hit home to me when you said " Everything was probably more epic for those who didn't spoiler the hello kitty out of themselves". I had to laugh, but it rings true tonight. Been so desperate over the long hiatus, hungry for every little scrap, that I'm almost stuffed by the time the real meal comes round. I'll try to stay away from here for the next week.
The hiatus was so damn long, you could have re-watched an episode per day, all the way from the pilot, and still had some nights to spare. I'm not looking forward to the next (thankfully shorter) one either... but it will probably pale in comparison to the summer...
I started rewatching it all again over the last few days (bored this weekend, and I have them all recorded). I finished 1x13, A Thin Line Btw C & N, right before watching tonights...
I was almost amazed to see differently I saw things... I loved D&S back then, and both the characters and the acting of S/Blake and N/Chace were more appealing and higher quality. The writing seemed a lot tighter, more cohesive, and made more sense. IIRC, Georgina's about to rear her ugly head any moment now, and I really hated the mess her character made of things - not just G against S/D, but the char's introduction and SL seemed so awkward in its execution...
Seeing Victor/Victrola and Seventeen Candles again was amazing though, to see B&C ignite the screen in their out-of-the-blue pairing. I really loved C's hair back then too - so rakishly, devil-may-care, handsome, charming, sexy and smarmy. I must agree that his current 'do makes him look twice his age. He is looking far too much like Bart himself, too restrained, restricted and a bit of stuffed shirt. Not that I don't love most of his outfits (a little too much ugly plaid of late tho, can't wait for the spring/summer pastels again :P ), but his long day's journey into night has taken a bit of the fun out of Chuck. No wonder B wants to party with Carter...
Anyway, I agree with many of you, that it was DEEPLY satisfying to see B get back at C, and nice to see her find comfort with N. Nair might be nice for a bit, to get B turned back in the right direction. Which of course is into the arms of a woken-up, grown-up (but still scheming and charming and sexy) Chuck. I desperately hope we get more than just a single (or even worse, partial!) episode of the reunite Chair this season...
We do need to keep in mind that as in any good series, the main couple needs to be seperated and united over and over for the show to work. Think about it, if Chuck and Blair were to seriously become a couple, what would that do to the show? First it would demonize Chuck because he would eventually cheat on blair, and it would victimize her. The reality though is both Chuck and Blair are part angelic part demonic, bringing out both the best and worst in each other. I don't know, I just think if you gave Chuck and Blair an honest to god relationship, the show would end...remember kids, we still have the college years...the best is yet to [OMFG] come.
omg... poor chuck but he deserved anyway, because of him and yale blair is in her own downspiral.. i just hope it doesnt destroy her that much. Poor Blair, things like that happend all the time when you spend most part of the day planning than living, she needs to lose her self a little, to understand is okei not having a plan for the next five years, I'm getting my degree this summer and I dont have a real clue what do I want for my life, so it's okei for a young person like her to feel lost, but the real thing is feeling lost but being rounded from people that really care about you.
Chuck he just need to fight for her, because is he seriously thinking he already have fought for her, he is soo wrong, she gave him her soul n' heart, and now it's time for him to give her the same!...
vanessa I hate her, but feel kind of sorry for her, imho nate and vanessa don't work as a couple, but to be rejected like that, to feel so out of place like that, I don't wish that to anybody even if I do not like that person
