~ Chuck & Blair ~ 2.0
this is such a good picture!! LOVE IT! he looks so cute and happy and boyish but still hot! =D
Hey everyone! Hope all is well with you guys. I haven't posted here in a while, though I have been lurking, of course as my name says...Anyway, had to share this bit of a review of safran's latest debacle. Everything he touchs turns to shit. Such an untalented troll!
Even when the network tries really hard to make something a hit, throws all its might behind a project, they just cannot get it right. The lugubrious two-hour premiere (two hours! Of Smash! On one night!) was yet another gurgle of fatally missed narrative opportunities, badly developed plot arcs, and thuddingly tone-deaf writing. Don't get me wrong, it's still a marvelously entertaining catastrophe, the kind of thing that is perfect to bitchily hiss at, but snide camp value alone does not a hit show make. In terms of actual quality, Smash is a wreck. Sure, sure, credit its earnestness (synthetic and cynical as it is) and swoon over all the high-power vocals, but beyond that? It's a poorly rendered, lazy mess. This, NBC's great big hope. The new head guy's beautiful baby. In some ways, Smash's high-profile, expensive flopping is the nadir (so far) of NBC's swan dive into oblivion. It provides a symphonic score to the descent into rubble, puts a shiny showbiz gloss on the whole cataclysm, sparkling sadly in the night.
Oh and this new romance, meh. I like them both individually, but not so sure about them together. What do you guys think?
This from the same writer of the Smash review above:
As if by some kind of bizarre Josh Schwartz yenta magic, the stand-out stars of his two big shows, Adam Brody fromThe O.C. and Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl, have gotten together. What's been rumored for a little while has now been confirmed, because it's in the pages of Us Weekly. The online pages, anyway. They're dating, officially. It's only been a few weeks, says the mag, but still. Still! Look at those two jerks. Look how attractive they are. And not just attractive, but, like, well-suited or something. They just make sense together. Good for them. If it couldn't be, ahem, someone else, ahem, I guess Leighton Meester will do for dear, darling Adam Brody. So far the couple has already been to LACMA and Bangkok together, so I guess they like things artsy and exotic. Sigh. They're just perfect together, aren't they? Josh Schwartz, you are one miraculous demon. You really are
OMG, just realized, looking at my profile (Member Since: 2/6/2012), that it was exactly one year ago today that I joined this forum!!! It seems so long ago. Of course it took me till 2/20/12 to actually get up the courage to post. So so glad I did! Even though I haven't been on much lately (stupid job and life and lack of GG), it has definitely one of the best things I ever did. Thanks for a great year you guys, and here's to hopefully lots more!
K hiiiiiii!!! =D i know, ugh real life is getting way too hectic and somehow this semester i find myself with more courses than i've ever taken before =/ I HATE IT. i wasn't on the thread for weeks, but i started missing CB even more than usual over the past few days and i've been reading so many fics that i've had bookmarked for ages! =P
omg that Smash review is GOLD! safran sucks. hopefully someday someone will ban him from ever writing anything again. maybe that'll help stop the nightmares...
don't really have an opinion on leighton and adam...i didn't watch O.C. so all i can say is that i think he's good enough looking...but i do think it's pretty interesting that they're both breakout stars (at least i've heard that brody was a breakout star...) of schwartz's shows =P if O.C. and GG were still on i'd say it was a publicity stunt =P
and THANK YOU to you too, K! we wouldn't have had NEARLY as much fun chatting here without you! your posts were always so sarcastic and funny! always loved reading them! =D
*sigh*...i miss talking about episodes with you guys....not saying i miss GG, just the ranting sessions we had on here =P
Hi Sanaa!!!!!! Glad to see you here. I missed you and the thread! When are you going to start rewatching from season 1 and give us your signature comments on each ep? I miss your running commentary so much! Glad you are well, if busy. How much more school do you have till you're done? What are you studying anyway?
Oh the schadenfreude over Safran's fail with Smash - totally expected, but oh so jusicy and delicious!! And I don't feel bad at all at enjoying his failure. He sucks and now eveyone will know it!
I did watch the OC (first few seasons till Schwartz abandoned that one and it went downhill) and I loved Seth and the whole Cohen family. I'm having a bit of a hard time taking this romance seriously. I would have thought publicity stunt as well if both shows were still on and maybe that's why its not doing it for me. I'm still holding out for her and Ed to get it together someday. I am an admitted shipper of those two in RL. Silly, I know, but I feel like they can keep the magic of the passion and romance of Chair alive for me, since it really was their chemistry that hooked me on them in the first place. If you're reading lots of fics, here's a pretty well done RPF E/L fic if you want to check it out. If you do, let me know what you think.
I followed all things Gossip Girl on Livejournal in the early days before tumblr and twitter. Like season 1, I miss it and the GG community it had.
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! How are you?!? I was so happy to see your post

Elise convinced me, lol! I just love these two, both together and separately, and if they ever got together IRL, I just may faint and/or lose my marbles, lol...
Did I forget to say that I love that Safran review, lol! How does the man even get any jobs?!? Really... it's crazy...
I'm loving this. More Safran fail:
Ouch. Wonder if the Smash people could use a little drinking game after seeing the ratings, eh?
Smash's season-two premiere seriously underperformed in the ratings last night, bringing in a series-low average of 4.5 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating. In comparison, its lead-in,Betty White's 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special, brought in 6 million viewers. So, there's that.
Smash's season-one finale drew 6 million viewers, meaning last night's premiere saw a 25 percent drop. And if you compare it to the series debut last year (11.4 million), the season two opener plummeted a whopping 60 percent. "Yikes" is the word you are looking for.
So what does that mean for Smash? It means the ratings better see an uptick and fast. This show is far too expensive to make for ratings like last night.
Theresa!!! Hey!!! Damn, I missed this thread!! So glad to see you're still posting the hot Ed pix, thank you very much!
I just love these two, both together and separately, and if they ever got together IRL, I just may faint and/or lose my marbles, lol...
Yup, me too. They just work for me. Sigh. Damn you, Seth Cohen. I think it's too much like a CW crossover show thing for me to like them together. Of course, no problem with a couple from the same show... :p
How are you? and your boys? Sorry about the 49er's, but they did make it a good game in the second half there. I was rooting for Baltimore because well, east coast and I love that city and it's Sanaa's home state!
I am good... and yes, heartbreaking loss, but Colin is young so I am hoping for next year, lol! I said that last year about the Niners, too, LOL... I do love the Baltimore story so I'm not too, too sad about it...
Any how, my boys are doing great... My 21 year old made the Dean's List again last quarter, and my 10 year old was student of the month, so we are going to celebrate with a teppanyaki dinner this weekend since my oldest will be here for a friend's wedding. Those two LOVE Japanese food!
Damn you, Seth Cohen. I think it's too much like a CW crossover show thing for me to like them together. Perfectly said, K, perfectly said...

In comparison, its lead-in, Betty White's 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special, brought in 6 million viewers. OMG... that is both pitiful AND tragic! They are going to fire him, just watch... Is it terrible that I am enjoying these awful reviews and ratings so much?
Thanks for all the info, K! Have a good one!
