Elementary Review: For the Love of Fame

One thing I like about this show this season is Watson's development into a lesser detective, certainly (or the fun of Sherlock would be diluted), but a real detective in her own right. I liked not only the case she solved, but that the police extended her "professional courtesy" as a detective who works with the police. I also think that her character's personality is such that she is a cop-friendly sister type figure who can and certainly will think to ask how these new acquaintances are doing and care when they share that information (not a romantic interest for Bell).

I was thinking his voice was deeper and hoarser and I was wondering if he wasn't sick during the filming.

I still like Leonard and Penny together -- but was thinking in this episode that it has been awhile since they acted like a couple dating who's already said, "I love you," to each other. In the past scenes when Penny's been obviously in love with Leonard, it makes more sense that she puts up with all-the-things-Jonas-hates-about-Leonard. It's a stereotypical joke thrown in her giving half-eaten chocolates (and a lot of "girls" as she's being depicted would give nothing more than sex which they would expect to be received as a rare and precious commodity no matter how often she had sex with her boyfriend). I get the comedy show making jokes -- but I also felt that in this episode they were more like a ten years on married couple in their conversations and level of romance??

I really like Penny and Leonard being together (enough that I waited until I could get the whole season and they had gotten back together to watch the episodes after they broke up). I especially like the scenes that show how hot for or into Leonard Penny is -- because of the incongruity, maybe. Like when she decides to get a pair of lensless glasses to look smart rather than be smart and she stumbles after him as he leads her to the bedroom to undress her down to her glasses ... and maybe her boots -- or when she wore the little black dress to the faculty get together to use her boobs for Leonard's advancement. I mean that that's a stereotypical character, but a funny and loving one. I too though wish she didn't drink so much or knock the side mirror off her "friend's" car and not even tell them (and I can see someone laughing at the old guy falling, but also see them catching themselves and feeling bad for their initial reaction).

Hayley's just a very practiced liar, rather than remarkable. It's a comedy and it's fun -- like when she was pretending to have a waitress job.

Sheldon, in this episode, acted the part of a pet dog and then the part of Penny and Leonard's child (which just brings back when they did the Sheldon as the child of divorce when they broke up). I really can't fathom why so many (at least a majority of TV Fanatic posters) want Penny to dump Leonard for Sheldon. It also strikes me that none of these 3 characters have grown at all, which I'm assuming is because the comedy premise requires them to be the same as at the beginning of the premise (meaning the pilot that got the network to take the show). Leonard hasn't grown at all by having a hot girlfriend. He's just as unsure of himself as he was in the beginning. Sheldon still doesn't know what girls are for and Penny has become an alcoholic. So, it's not funny when Leonard's a wimp or Penny's drunk or Sheldon is a jerk to Amy.

I don't like Kim either. I guess they're still working out where Jane/Lisbon/Cho fit in in this new version of the show -- but I hope there are enough who dislike Kim they put her in an office somewhere like the bosses at the old CBI (and use her rarely)!

The Big Bang Theory Review: Umm....

Leonard and Penny need to stay together. Leonard wasn't very good at supporting her or in coming up with something better than "Um." It's funny about this terrific show that you have to worry what they are going to do to Leonard and Penny next -- but Raj and Amy and Sheldon just keep going on and on unchanged forever?!?

The Big Bang Theory Review: What If?

They could have done the same thing with any of the core group that they did with Sheldon -- so, it strikes me that it is Leonard who is central, that Sheldon accepting Leonard as his roommate was the beginning (and the only way Sheldon had any friends at all), that Leonard would have been social enough to bring Howard and Raj from the college into the group and all the girls would follow.

The Mentalist Round Table: "Green Thumb"

This on Kim Fischer was dead on : Entwife: I thoroughly dislike her. She is a cold manipulator and has no feeling for Jane except how to turn him into a tool for the FBI, her tool. She is a bully, in my opinion, harsh, and the end seems to perfectly justify the means to her. That FBI scene is full of cold, grim people! I really dislike the character. She's portraying the kind of person that when bad things happen to them everyone says, It couldn't have happened to a nicer person. I mean, she's not a foil for Jane, she's a nasty piece of work with no redeeming qualities at all!
