I caught on to the song "The Wanderer" right away, because Odin the god of Norse mythology was called a wanderer, "However, it could also mean Odin represented an older cult of proto-Germanic hunter-gatherers, his association with being a wanderer and having shamanic qualities.." Because part of his mythology was being thrown out by the other gods and made to wander among humans (and probably fae, which was how he could have met Bo's mom) and having sex with human women to create titans or heroic humans. I think that Lauren is going to be in trouble, but I also think she's lied to Bo too many times, so I hope that this will end their relationship for good. I hope that Bo and Tamsin and Dyson can get back together and help one another, because they're all good together and Bo needs to feed off of Fae more than weak humans. LOVED Kenzi in this ep (but I love her in every ep), especially SuperKenz, and I think that someone has gotten to Hale to turn him into such a jerk. Can't wait for next week!
I totally agree with the reviewer...the biting storyline was just plain STUPID. It made Brennan look like an elitist shrew and Booth look like a cuckolded fool. And I am a mom, so I know that children go through a biting phase, and that it doesn't matter how extraordinary the child is, he or she will probably go through many of the behavioral stages that children exhibit. We had a specialist tell us that toddlers bite because they can't yet express their frustrations and delights in words, so they bite it out. Usually this phase doesn't last long, and the child learns to use their words to express their emotions. Still, I did enjoy the sauce storyline with Opie and Thurston, aka Finn and Hodgins. Awesome!
I am with the reviewer, this episode had me crying like crazy for most of the episode. I sincerely hope that Kenny doesn't have to be killed because he's some weird vampire hybrid now. And I hope that Josh and Nora have a little time to be happy together and that they can made regular babies between them, not wolf pups. I also loved all the quips in this ep, all the lines about Jewish tradition and how to kill a witch, etc. Funny stuff. Now I gather that poor Sally has to deal with the ghost of that stupid Linda Lavin witch during eternity, though, which could really suck.
This episode really upset the apple cart with all the relationships, and now I am worried that Karen is going to get her heart broken or get some kind of STD or HIV from her new boyfriend who is a drug user and kind of a creep (though he's a talented creep, and he has MAJOR chemistry with Karen). Still, I think if he had a relationship with OLD, washed out Derek, that would be a huge mistake, too. He's got enough gray hair to be her father, and he always looks like he just got out of bed with messy hair and didn't bother to shower. He's also not handsome AT ALL, and his accent and attitude scream "cheap and jaded." ICK. I can't imagine why anyone would sleep with him if it weren't to further her career. I loved Anna's song and I am thrilled that Julia seems to be flirting again. I don't like that Tom has sold out, though. I love this show, and will be really sad to see it go!
Though I really hate horror movies and zombies and all that, I loved the non-cannibalistic/evil/damaged young man parts of the ep, especially all the banter between Tommy and Megan. I will say, though, that I love Ethan and Curtis, and I miss it when they aren't a significant part of the episode. Especially Curtis, who is hilarious, whereas Ethan is just an annoying Geek.
I can't say that I am thrilled with Luke Perry having a returning role on the show, but I would much rather that Megan slept with Tommy than with Luke Perry's character, because he's so boring. I was also glad to learn that they don't have to give the rabies antidote/vaccination in the stomach with half foot large bore needles like they used to, either. I worked as a nurse and I always felt so sorry for people undergoing that treatment, because it HURT like heck, from what they told me.
Wow, this was an amazing episode! As the reviewer said, so much has happened in six weeks that it was hard to keep up with all of the plot twists. Because Nolan is my favorite character *besides Em, of course* I was so upset to see him a physical wreak, all hollow eyed and obsessive. And it nearly killed me when Emily told him that Padma is dead, and then tried to comfort him...I could see that she is heartbroken for him, and worried about Nolan because he's her best friend.However, aside from their touching moments together, the Revenge thing seems to be in full bloom, with the whole "your grown up adopted boy is back" thing, and I was thrilled that she fainted, I only wish she'd hit her head harder on the marble floor. And hurrah for Charlotte and her right hook! Finally she shows some backbone! I wish we didn't have to wait 4 weeks for a new episode.
I was glad that Bo and Lauren broke up this week, because, honestly, I have never been a fan of Dr Lauren Boring...she's just so vanilla and washes out next to Bo's exciting, vivid character (and Kenzi's too). But I did love the end scene with Lauren and Dyson talking about why they love her and why it's so hard to love her. I seriously hope that she gets back together, at least for healing, with Dyson, and I hope that she takes other interesting Fae lovers, because they can handle her taking a lot the sexual chi from them without becoming depleted or dying (or whining about it like Lauren did). I was glad to see Linda Hamilton on the show, but I have a feeling Tamsin is going to have to choose between her and Bo, and I bet Bo will win. I would love to know who the Wanderer is, and what he wants with Bo, but I imagine we will see soon enough. I love this show!
I am with Sue Ann, I love John Corbett, and having met the man on the set of Northern Exposure, I can honestly say that he's a great guy in person--kind, generous and with a great sense of humor. I would only watch Red to see him, as none of the other characters were at all interesting, IMHO. Yet if they run Body of Proof against it, I will have to go with Body of Proof, as that's the show that my son and I watch together. I also adore NCIS LA because of Hetty/Linda Hunt and Deeks and a bit of Kenzi, because I love her chemistry with Deeks. I've also grown fond of LL Cool J during the run of the show, and I like Eric the techie, too.
DC, I don't think that Derek, who is a player and sleeps with practically every leading lady he comes across, would have any idea how to "treasure" Karen, especially with the shabby way he treated Ivy. He's not even good looking, and his hair is always sticking up like he stuck his finger in a light sockett...and he wears crappy clothing and looks like he just woke up after a bender, all hung over. He's also much older than Karen, and I can't imagine her having a decent relationship with him at all. Whereas Jimmy is young, handsome and sexy, and I think he will be able to have a good, if volatile, relationship with Karen because he is obviously in love with her. He's got talent and a great voice and he and Karen together are going to be unstoppable! I also was glad that Sam had a chance to do his Ben Vereen imitation (Nat King Cole was never a dancer) and that Tom grew a pair!
Oh, and as to Tony and Ziva, I do think there is chemistry there, but it has been worn thin by time and neglect. I just hope that they do something to either get it out of the way and off the table, or consumate the relationship so that Ziva and Tony stop dancing around the issue.
I also wanted to say that I LOVED the fact that McGee works as a Big Brother to that nerdy kid who goggled and oggled Ziva.
I agree with the person who said that NCIS doesn't win enough awards, considering they're the number one rated show on TV. The acting on the show is so flawless, I don't understand it myself, they should be floating in a sea of Emmys.
I loved that this was a McGee-centric episode, I only wish that McGee's dad had gotten more of a stern talking to by other members of the team and by Vance, who should have said more to his jerk father about McGee not being a paper pusher at all (he does as much as possible electronically, anyway). I also wish Abby would have had a shot at McGee's dad, because she has a great way of dealing with bullies.Plus, she loves Tim, and I think she could convince his dad that he's really a smart, important part of the NCIS team. And I wonder, like the reviewer, WHY all the NCIS team members have to have bad fathers? Does this indicate that the main writer or creator of NCIS has a disapproving, cold father? I happen to know some guys whose dad is career military and he's a great father, warm, caring and he approves of their career paths and has been there for them since they were small in every way possible.
I was LOVING the Magnum PI references and music at the end, hilarious! And of course I always love the car arguments that are a hallmark of the Danno/Steve bromance...and I adore that Danno has names for the various faces that Steve makes! Aneurysm Face, "I Know Everything" face, etc. LOVE it *and it is so true that the man makes the same faces all the time*
As far as Catherine goes, yes, they are being rather sexist having her be in skimpy outfits all the time, but they are doing it for the same reason that they have Alex O take off his shirt, because both actors are EYE CANDY and they give viewers a thrill. Alex certainly gets my motor running with his hot body and gorgeous face. But then, I think Chin and Danno are pretty hot, too. I also found the ep confusing, but with H5O, you just have to go with it.
BTW, The Wild Rover is a great song, and the lyrics are pretty apropo..."And it's no, nay, never, no nay never no more, and I'll play the wild rover, no never, no more."
I totally agree with the reviewer...this was an AWESOME episode, and I gotta agree with the Seamus Dever as a total HOTTIE with the cool haircut and the bad-ass attitude...yummmmmmmm. I kept marveling at how intensely blue his eyes were, and how even his posture changed when he became Fenton. He had "swagger" and steel in his whole body. And I loved that scene at the end where he called on all his friends and co workers to come out and help him, and Castle was all like "I forgot my vest" LOL! That was such a "cowardly lion" moment, and yet so perfect for his character. I can hardly wait for the 100th episode. This show is just the best, always full of great stories, laughter and tears. Long may it reign on TV!
I am with TV!Garth in his summation of this incredible ep! Yes, you are right, Kerry Washington rocks this role, and she manages to still be a great ensemble actress amid all the other actors on Scandal. Great,emotional scenes in this one, and I echo all the others who said that Jake smiling at himself on camera was just CREEPY as all get out! I think Mellie was also in the running for creep of the week as she used her baby to get in to see her husband, and you could tell she was distressed when he grabbed the baby and shut the door in her face...good for the Prez!Anyway, I also adore Harrison and I was hoping that David would become a gladiator, too, but I think his relationship with Abby would make that a problem. I am also glad to see Huck teaching Quinn.
BTW, I love Glee, I really do, but sometimes they drop the ball, as they did with Brody and STDs. Still, I am glad that Rachel got rid of him, and I am really glad that Santana is back! She's awesome, and I loved "Cold Hearted Snake" from last week! I also agree that if the Glee club were to never sing songs from musical artists with no morals and lots of drugs and abuse issues, they'd never sing a note. There are just too many musicians and musical groups who have lead singers or musicians on drugs or alcohol or they've got anger issues and beat women up, or they're pedophiles, like Pete Townsend of The Who.
They have to be able to separate the song from the sordid life of the singer.
GLEE!! had it right about what has been bothering me about the whole Brody/Rachel relationship. Because he's a prostitute, that means that he's bringing home every virus/bacteria from every woman or man he's having sex with to Rachel, and until recently, she didn't know that. She could have gotten HPV from him, and could have ovarian or cervical cancer and not even know it! Women don't often present with symptoms of various STDs until it is too late, and the same thing goes for certain cancers, like ovarian cancer, that don't have any real symptoms until they are in stage 4 and almost impossible to treat. There are also strains of drug-resistant gonorreha and syphillus out there, so I personally think that Finn should have hit Brody harder for being such a d-bag, and I think Rachel needs to get tested for STDs ASAP! They need to show this on Glee as the consequences of unprotected sex with multiple partners.
I agree with the reviewer, too many questions about the things revealed in this ep...like did Laurels sister really make it out of the boat wreak and is on one of those tiny islands, living without her memory and thriving? I think that they're going to end up finding out that she's become the girlfriend of one of the bad guys on the Island that Ollie lived on. She will have lost her memory and will be living with this guy like her former life didn't exist. I enjoyed seeing Alex Kingston playing the mum in this ep, especially across from the handsome Paul Blackstone as Laurels father. I am also glad that Tommy and Ollie made up. I am a bit worried about Speedy's relationship with the thief...I have a feeling, though there's great chemistry there, that he is going to get her into more trouble than he's worth.
Oh, and I KNEW that Stevie had eaten his parents the moment he answered the door to the family home. I also figured out that the arm was probably someone like a pizza delivery guy, because Stevie has had enough time alone to eat through his family and still be hungry. I am glad that Josh helped him, but now I am thinking that Sally will go back to being a ghost soon, because she won't be able to stop her decay without eating her roommates or someone else, and she doesn't want her soul to be enslaved or eaten by the witch, either, but she will probably sacrifice herself for the sake of her roommates. What I do not understand is why she hasn't gone back to the Linda Lavin witch and asked her why she didn't tell them that they would be decaying if they didn't eat live flesh. Was that part of the bargain that Sally made in order to be allowed to be "seen" by people she'd known before she died? If so, the witch should have said something about becoming a zombie and rotting.
I think that Josh couldn't see Stevies ghost because he hadn't turned as a werewolf yet, so he is still mostly mortal. Though I liked most of this episode, I didn't like all the focus on Aidan's life right after he was turned into a vampire, and the prejudice and cruelty of the religious leaders in New England at the time. I felt like there was too much emphasis on what is in the past and unchangable, and there was no discussion of why Aidan could father a child back in the 18th century but not now. The only logical explanation that I could figure out was that perhaps he wasn't completely turned at that point, or he hadn't gone into battle and been turned yet, so he was still mortal and was therefore able to father children. Vampires are essentially dead, so they would have no way to conceive children. I think that the death of the old hippy werewolf was horrible, BTW, and I hope Aidan cracks down on the gang who follow that red headed lady who obviously lied about killing werewolves.
People, it is STORY ARC, not ARCH. Also, I rather like Doris, though I know she's always lying to Steve, but I have a feeling that the show writers have made her somewhat unlikable so that they can kill her off at the end of the season and have Steve grieve. Though she's too skinny, I also like Catherine and Steve together, but I have a feeling that time is running out on their relationship, too. I like seeing Steve in a stable relationship, because it leaves him more time to work on cases and his "bromance" with Danno. And why does it not surprise me that the aforementioned Jersey guy grew up on Roller Derby?! LOL. I love Danno, and I also love Chin (and Daniel Dae Kim) so I was glad that we didn't have any drama from Kono for this ep. Kono kind of leaves me cold anyway, she's got ridiculously bad taste in men and she's had to be rescued a few too many times.
Interesting to see Daisy back in action, and I agree that she was much less annoying in this ep. I loved Angela's cartoon of Hodgins in the bunker, and I loved how excited and enthused Hodgins was about doing all the various experiments, basically a reason to blow sh*t up, like the Mythbusters, which every boy over the age of 7 seems to LOVE, at least in my household. (My husband loves it, too, and I could see the gleem in Hodgins eyes as he reloaded that cannon). I thought that the whole thing with the gel in the face of Booth was again, overplayed, but I realize they're trying to soften his image a bit and make him funnier, more able to take a joke.
This episode was more comedic than most, and I enjoyed that (yes, the goat and chickens coming out of the bunker was an unexpected sight gag that pretty much set the tone for the ep) but I think that the whole thing of treating Sweets as if he were a child that they needed to care for and then help "leave the nest" was wayyyy over-played. Seriously, the guy has to be in his late 20s or early 30s, if he has a PhD, or several, as he's often said, then he's a fully grown adult who has previously lived alone. He's not a child, not even close. He's been Booth and Bones therapist, for crying out loud. I just do not get why the writers chose to infantilize him in this ep, and then send him off to a Three's Company style apartment as if he's going to college, and calling Booth and Bones Mr and Mrs Sweets just makes little sense, they're not old enough to have a child Sweets age, even if he did look anything like them, which he doesn't.
I enjoyed this episode mainly for the way that Castle was so freaked out by all the superstition and horror movie tropes. I just love that he chatted up Wes Craven about how to get rid of the "curse" and I LOLed at Craven's response to all of it after he hung up the phone. "script my a**"
