As Derek told Burke when he was interim chief, "heavy is the head that wears the chief's scrub cap."
Owen has to be a big boy and accept the consequences of those decisions until Teddy is ready to make peace with what Owen did. And Owen can't demand for it to be okay like he tried to do.
Teddy isn't angry at Owen for Henry dying. Teddy accepted Henry's death and doesn't blame anyone for Henry dying. That's why she had Cristina go through the procedure over and over again to accept the fact that nothing could have been done for Henry because had Teddy been operating, Henry still would have died.
Teddy is angry that Owen told Henry he made it through the surgery and she believed he was alive hours and hours after Henry passed. She's angry that her best friend told her that everything was okay when it wasn't. Owen made the call and the decision to do that to Teddy and made Cristina suffer through it by joking around with her and having fun with her when Henry died. Owen made an impossible decision, but he made it. He has to now live with it.
So I know that Owen is trying to save Christina, but that camera angle makes it look like he's tackling her into the car's direction as opposed to pulling her from it.
I love Penn. I really do. I know he's shooting a movie that requires that long hair, but good GAWD, cut the hair already.
I want nothing more than for season 5 to end already because Penn's movie will be well into post, and he can cut that hair!!! I prefer it short, not super short like it was a la season 1, but maybe season 2's closing and season 3?
I'm certainly not excusing it, but it is a way to deal with what can't be changed. It's there, it's written, it's airing, you just have to sit there and take it.
Nate as Editor in Chief with no prior experience whatsoever? Serena and that whole Daniel Day Lewis thing? The Preist villian? Louis-villian? The constant back and forth with Chuck being good/bad?
It's all tiresome when trying to view it with a modicum of realism. So, as a coping mechanism, accept the things you cannot change by suspending the disbelief of it all.
Nathaniel Archibald as Gossip Girl? Hmm... now that is an interesting twist. If this is even the slightest bit true, it certainly would make his character more appealing and less boring than he's been portrayed all this time.
It is a good cover: after all, if it is Nate, who would think to go after him if everyone is looking for a girl? Given the extensive resources he has, not to mention connections as a Vanderbilt, knowing Serena all his life, it would make an interesting arc that Nate has lacked for quite some time.
Dan did write him as "half" a character, maybe the other is GG?
Whoever first mentioned the idea, Kudos to you!
My boat is whether it's Nate, Georgina, or Lola, I'm still hoping for a KB appearance!
It's sort of that essence of GG. Let's take the Diana SL for a moment here. That came and went without explanation, establishing a connection with Chuck and yet never really developing that. Either Hurley is unavailable or it seems like the writers have consistent ADD.
Not being against Dair, it's interesting that where Serena is concerned, Blair openly admits always having a connection to Dan by Season 4's end, and then having apathy for him for the rest of Season 5 to date.
I do agree that as seasons progress, the more disbelief you have to have in order to reconcile with the show. While it's jaw-dropping that Georgina is GG, you're right, logistically it's not believable, even in heightened reality.
If it were me, I would've made the real Lola the real GG, since she would have the motive, the name, and the necessary cladestine operation to pull it off in the five years of the show's run. And then the real Lola played by KB.
A joke is a joke. In the words of Heath Ledger's Joker, "Why so serious???"
It was a comment that the text had to point out, twice, that he wasn't actually insulting Chair fans. However the interview does point out, no matter what side of the coin you fall on, there's still a heated debate and viewership 100 episodes in.
After reaching 100 episodes, it's almost guaranteed a next season; syndication will defray costs of the next season regardless of viewership. Once a show hits that 100 mark, it's almost unlikely a network would allow its cancellation, as another "new" season will help the previous seasons be shopped at other networks. Given that the show's ranking was at #196 during its first season, yet improved in rankings despite a drop in viewership over the years(ended season 4 with #139), means that CW still believes in its viability, and now that it's at its centennial, the show will still line CW exec's coffers.
This show has never really been about realism; if it was, Blair and Chuck would never have been together on-and-off for this long in the first place. Well, let me take that back, if Blair was truly the independent all-woman-empowered character that she was, this whole Chuck drama would not even be a blip on her radar. I mean, seriously, as far as realism is concerned, you'd have to be the biggest emotionally-damaged masochist-doormat to continually believe Chuck is a viable option. And I'm not saying that Blair was completely innocent either as she's done her share to contribute to the toxic relationship that is Chair.
Only in this heightened dramatized novella can that relationship last.
It's best to just have that suspension of disbelief.
Late game changer: Nate's perpetual failures in his relationships and consistent bachelorism is a result of latent homosexuality and an on-set for his feelings for Dan. Dan, realizing that his book spoke far more volumes of his relationship with Nate, remains friends with Blair and a new ship is born...
And despite the fake wedding, can we talk about how cute Blair's dads were?! "One father isn't enough." I had to admit, it was a touching moment given that Cyrus was a gentleman about letting Harold be the father of the bride, and how Blair saw that both of them had equal claim to that title.
So the dream sequence was a bit eh to me. I guess I didn't really see Blake bringing it as the infamous Marilyn Monroe. Seeing Ed, Chace, and Penn dancing seemed.... I don't know... kind of stiff? It was weird. Of course it's all a grain of salt since it was Serena's dream, but still... it was... eh. I think it could have been better.
You know, at least for me, what would've been more awesome? If Lola, aka the real Charlie Rose, was played by KB. And she's the real GG. I think that would've been more fun, given Charlie's backstory of "being kept away from socialite life".
As a Kristen Bell fan... I'm actually surprised that GG isn't played by her. I admit, my mouth dropped when the camera panned to Georgina, because seriously... who saw that one coming?????
Though I do have to say, if Georgina is truly Gossip Girl, the long held secret they've kept in the bag for five years, why reveal her now? Sure, it's a milestone for any TV show to reach 100 episodes, but her identity makes me wonder if the show's end is truly coming to pass?
Interviews have stated that this season will end as it's supposed to, regardless if it gets canceled or not. So either the sixth season will be the last season, or Georgina's reveal is an attempt to boost ratings to ensure a next?
....does that mean MT will be doing voiceovers now? Because I can't imagine GG's voiceovers with anyone other than KB.
I'd prefer Blair single, but if a union should be in the cards, I'd pick Dan for Blair. I mean, I saw a hint of what they could be all the way in season 1 from "Bad News Blair". So for me, picking up those hints, Dair by the end of season 4 and season 5 wasn't out of the blue, but an eventuality that's finally surfaced.
Whether they end up together or not, their dynamic is different and new for GG because Chair has become trite and exhausting.
But that's just my opinion, and an opinion is just that, so if maddened foam-mouth Chair shippers are on the attack like some rabid dog calling me an idiot or delusional for having such opinions, please go kick rocks with open toe shoes.
In my opinion, Chair is a lousy example of having just history as simple justification for a union. Given my value systems, given how I've seen these two from their beginnings in the pilot to now, their union has been nothing but toxic to one another. Love isn't a get-out-of-jail free card for transgressions made to one another nor is it the only thing that can keep a couple together. I mean let's face it, Romeo and Juliet were in love and as in love as they were, they met their end in mutual suicide. Cleopatra and Mark Antony were in love, and they too met their end in mutual suicide. Lancelot and Guinevere were also in love and they ended up alone, condemned, and a weakened kingdom. And those love stories didn't involve the constant machinations that convoluted their love like Blair and Chuck. I don't doubt that Chuck and Blair love each other, but love isn't enough, and they're just so bad for each other.
Now while the climbs of Capeside is a far cry from the UES, the tale of Chair and Dair is similar as well. We have two characters who were destined to be while a third character is at odds. That third character has elements introduced to develop a triangle, and it's now a camp between Chairs and Dairs.
Now, I'm not saying that Dair is endgame nor that it will follow the precedent of DC because the writers could very well make Chair pull a Ross/Rachel in their finale, but, drawing a parallel between DC and GG is not out of this world.
